NBC evening news stated there was a "21 gun salute" fired.

Please get over this.NBC states this repeatedly on different occasions. There were three volleys of rifle fire.No 21 gun salute.

The 21 gun salute, fired usually from 105mm or larger cannon is reserved for heads-of-state.

3x7=I think 21, holy cow batman. If you attend most affairs like this you'll see seven soldiers fore three volleys.

Three volleys from a firing detail do not constitute a 21 gun salute , regardless of juvenile remarks by a junior comic book aficionado.

Anyone with military experience should know this.Obviously you have had none.

I guess those that get buried at Arlington or any other national cemetery never got a salute according to some experts here.

Presumably you are addressing me. President Kennedy, buried at Arlington, did receive a 21 gun salute because he was a head of state.. The military funeral is an honored tradition and the three volleys (not salutes) are symbolic. You are ignorant of the traditions of this ceremony; yet continue to display your ignorance which, to me borders upon disrespect to the fallen.
