I think it's pretty unbelievable that people can assume that they understand all of the reasons a player leaves a program simply by reading an article in the paper...or that they can assume to know what Airial, Sydney or their family members are like by doing so.

I happen to know these people personally and they are not the least bit selfish, nor are they poor representatives of the University of Utah, or the state as a whole. To the contrary, Lori Salvo, is a fine coach and person who has devoted her life to bettering the community in which she lives and serving the family which she is beautifully raising and supporting. She is also the most giving human being I have met in terms of her coaching, her community service, her genuine care for others, and her love for her family.

Airial and Sydney are mature young women who have made a choice that will allow them to continue to grow as people and players, and they have also chosen to leave a program that limited and stunted that growth.

As for Coach Launiere, she is not one who has her players best interests at heart. She markets her program well, but behind the scenes, it is NOT what others see on the surface. Don't be so quick to judge something you know so little about.

Well Ms. Doe. I disagree entirely. Referring to Sydney and Airial you say "they have also chosen to leave a program that limited and stunted that growth." Yes, I'm sure a year or two's worth of collegiate level volleyball was a very "stunting" experience. Especially competing in the second round of the NCAA volleyball tournament. That must have been quite limiting. As for your remark on Coach Launiere-- I have always been impressed how she cares not only about her girls' volleyball experience, but about their overall well-being. It is maybe a good thing your "behind the scenes" knowledge is so extensive. Without it we might all be conned into thinking that the U of U volleyball program is exactly what it is and appears to be-- a succesful program where girls are able to have an uplifting, competitive collegiate volleyball experience.

On the contrary you are the one who sounds judgemental.
