Defense, defense, defense. Wait, no defense, no defense, no defense.

How many open 3s did the Aggies give them? How many point blank dinks did Utah State have?

Utah State is a team that plays disciplined basketball in both directions. NMSU is not.

No coaching. The team has a depth of talent and no motivation. No coaching. The players are out there on their own playing for individual scoring, no team work. The announcers talked about how tall our big men were ... and we were outrebounded again. The coaching staff is teaching no fundamentals to the players, just letting them do their own thing. Kabongo can't shoot the three. Larouche needs to stop shooting when he missedd 5 or 6 in a row. We really do need to practice free throws. And defend the 3 ... it will probably never happen with this coaching staff.

Win or lose, who cares? The athletics programs simply suck money away from what the university is supposed to be doing, educating people.

NMSU goes up by 7 and Stan Morrill (Utah State) calls a time out to cool off the NMS Aggies.... Utah State goes up by 17 before Menzies calls a timeout. Should spend more time watching the game than looking at himself on wikipedia while the game is going on.

NMSU is in perfect shape for the DOWN and Coming NEW WAC,,,, in 2 years!!!!! We have poor leadership, poor coaching, and only one or two players who actually KNOW how to PLAY BASKETBALL!!!! NMSU is preparing itself very nicely for their future in the new D-II WAC Conference!!!! NMSU will never beat the Slimers and Lo_BLOWS,,,,again!!!! OH, but thats right we still have the Conference Torunament,,,,,,

At least this year there are 2 very good High School Basketball Teams to go and enjoy!

I agree---too many dunks while or best shot blocker, BJ West, is stuck on the bench. I think Chili and BJ should be alternating at center! We need centers that feel comfortable jumping to get rebounds and go after the ball after a shot rather than standing around watching the game.

Have to wonder about some of the lineups Menzies puts out there on the floor - I'm sorry Bandja Sy is not a starter, and definitely not a guard - two or three times he's on one of their guards, and doesn't sink to even threaten a double team on the best player in the freaking conference (Tai Wesley). Also, he doesn't shoot the three with any consistency. Speaking of, Kobongo played like a freshman and was out on the floor way too much; LaRoche let a freshman point guard out play him; Ham didn't even get the ball until late, and didn't play well even then.

We'll definitely have to go through Utah St to get to NCAAs, and they don't make dumb decisions (like threes early in the clock, not playing defense, or missing free throws). The players and coaches both need to make better decisions if we have any aspirations of going to the dance. Here's hoping!!

Go DIAA, FCS and have shorter players and less talent and be in the same boat. I know alot of you people would like UNM and NMSU be combined and NMSU would be a branch with Agriculture with no athletics. I personally wouldn't like it, and don't like the idea of being DIAA.

the only issue our teams faces is its lack of discipline. we have size, we have talent, we have athleticism. we lacka second good point guard to help laroche out. larouche has to stop getting the dumb fouls. gillenwater is just good enough to tease, then fade in to the sunset and let us down. our young guys are hungry and will continue to get better each day. the wac is so bad, real bad.
i will say this again. Boston and Macy are the problems around here. They do nothing to help all our coaches. they don't promote anything in the way they should be promoted, because boston brought macy here for $100+K and together they will never get it around here, nor will they ever admit they make too many mistakes and don't care abo0ut our people here.
my wife and i took our kids to the aggie womens game last night vs usu and it was a blast. the only promoting done was the marquee. that is a fun team, why don't they promote them more?
the mens team is in position to win the wac and we do nothing to help either team around here.
the other thing is; las cruces needs to get off its back side and support these teams. high school sports are nice and all, but we need to look further down the road and promote these two aggie hoops teams. through good times and not so, these are our teams.
go aggies.

tHEN SETTLE FOR "STATUS Quo"... And forums as such will be full of should've, could've and would've IF....But... DIAA, FCS is very feasible and sensible for NMSU, I don't know about UNM. Clock's a tickin'...need to do something here Soon.

Definitely fun to watch. Last year in the WAC tourney, the Utah State fans were doing the Winning Team/Losing Team chant when they were ahead of NMSU. When NMSU pulled ahead of Utah State, the NMSU fans did it to them. The Utah State fans sure got quiet after that.

All in good fun.
