"In a show of unity the first 5,000 Aggie fans at tonight's nationally televised game at the Pan American Center will receive a fake mustache."

And we wonder why the NMSU Athletic Dept. is over 8 million dollars in the red.

Adding insult to injury on the front of "Pete's" vest is that horrific and generic NMSU logo ushered in by UCOMM VP Maureen Howard. Her stupidity knows no limits. Howard put the TM next to NMSU's mantra of "Live, Learn and Thrive". Unfortunately, she stole the idea from Proctor and Gamble. http://www.pg.com/en_PH/company/corpphilantll... Another sad example of a 6-figure NMSU employee with no accountability.

Well it will only be a matter of time then, the university will get sued once again, as we did a while back for having Pistol Pete, which then became just Pete...

About time we had a black cowboy like in Blazing Saddles. Tonight might be the night.

What's wrong with a little "school rivalry?"

We have taken "political correctness" beyond commonsense and fair play.

We are taking about school mascots who job it is to raise school spirits and entertain.

When we limit fun and safe "horseplay" we limit who we are as individuals.

We allow athletes to "beat the hell" at each other, and state "they played their hearts out."
What kind of B.S. is that?

Come on people....let show some team and school spirit!

Go! Pistol Pete! Go!

P.S. I agree that NMSU's Athletic Department needs new and bright leadership. Lets hope that we have some good news this New Year.

I love the NMSU logo, but then again, I like low salt low fat Campbell's chicken soup, white dress shirts, Chevrolet sedans, plain bread, black knee socks, and the weather channel. The Carpenter's, Karen and Richard, are pretty okay too.

The NMSU logo and the image on the back of the NM quarter are so vanilla they defy description.

A better mascot, one that would represent the majority of the undergraduate student
body would be a 6'0" tall 98lb. Emo Goth kid wearing his sister's pants below his
hips with countless nose & lip rings, holding a cell phone. "Texting Pete" don't
expect him to lead any cheers or move around, for he'll be too weak from not
eating or sleeping for days, go get 'em Aggies!

Admit it, our mascot looks absolutely ridiculous anyway. Some white kid with a fake black moustache - seriously? The old foam and whatever mascot was actually funny and cool looking. When I saw our skinny fake-moustache-wearing kid fighting with the blue bull, I thought it was hilarious! Suspending both of them and pitching such a fit is sad. If these old fart fuddy-duddy people in charge would remove the plugs from their butts, maybe we could lighten up about things and realize the best way to market mascots and what their true function at our games is.

5,000 at the game tonight? That would be a shock.

Great showing there Aggie Fans ....

What are there .... maybe 1000 people at the game?

The reason I am not there?

I am NOT an Aggie Fan. Going to school at NMSU does not automatically make you a fan of their athletic program ... never could I be an Aggie Athletic Supporter.
