Come all. This will be an exciting football season. I think we'll make our first bowl appearance in over two scores. Even if expectations aren't met, there is an solid core of seniors that deserve a legit Cruces send off all season long. Seriously guy, the wins may not be there ,but these kids deserve it. Put behind the hatred for Mumme many of you have (with just cause), and make these kids proud to be an Aggie.

Sports comes under the category of entertainment and competes for the disposable income of the American public and like anything else if Americans don't feel that they are getting something in return for that dollar then they spend it somewhere else.

Second is the economy and how much disposable income Americans have.Presently we are seeing disposable income of Americans shrinking at a alarming rate and that may have a huge affect on collage sports.

There is a poll in the hometown newspaper of another WAC team and the question is;

" As economic times get tougher, which of the following areas do you cut back on first?

85.39% responding so far said entertainment and eating out would be the areas that they would cut back on first.

It may need to come down to practicality giving tickets away to achieve the goal of increased attendance for now.

I enjoy the comments about doing it for "the students." That is just as asinine as saying "Don't question our leaders, just support the troops." Having served in the military I support our troops but need to do more to question our leaders so my brethren do not continue to suffer missing limbs or death. By and large many of these out-of-state football students are good. I didn't care for the ones though who sided with Mumme and wanted to remove fellow team members with different religious beliefs. I didn't fight for our country so this type of bigotry could prevail. The "I'm a Christian and I'm right" mentality that Mumme helped perpetuate was a disgrace. It's hard to get behind those "kids."

If probation means the removal of Boston and Mumme I hope attendance suffers. I also hope NMSU would simply recruit kids from New Mexico. If we are going to lose I would rather see it done with our own kids. Heck, who knows, with an ethical coach and morally strong AD, we could win with kids from NM. Athletics, at least in the football realm, at NMSU is a joke. Lest we forget Mumme begged his buddy Boston to schedule not one but two Division II teams so he could get some w's. When Mumme beats the Division II school he acts as if it is a great accomplishment. It's a shame the Alexes on this list don't get behind volleyball, softball, baseball and the other sports on campus. Fire Boston and Mumme and they will come.

Terrible Analogy and terrible attitude. These out-of-state kids are part of the community. They deserve some support.

Mumme didn't beg for 2 D-1AA (or whatever it's called now) to be scheduled, it's just the way the cookie crumbled. Nobody liked the second D-1AA team on the schedule. If it wasn't for Wyoming dropping us from their schedule this year, we'd have zero D-1AA teams on the schedule this year. Like I said, just the way the cookie crumbles.

I like how you assume I don't support the other sports. Well I admit my biggest concerns are the football and mens basketball program, I support every sport on campus. Don't make needless assumptions. Football is suppose to be the breadwinner for the entire athletic department. So if you are so keen on supporting the sports you listed, it would serve you well to support football too.

And finally, firing Boston and Mumme is not going to bring people back. Thats what people always say, and its proven time and time again, that the best way to build support is to win. However, creating a home field advantage is a key part of the winning equation. Lets drop the what have they done for me lately attitude, and just take some pride in our football team; for better or for worse.

Alex you have proven to be nothing but a blowhard in these forums. There is nothing wrong with my analogy. It is interesting how you side step Mumme's racial and religious discrimination. He doesn't deserver our support nor the students that were complicit in his forced prayer sessions.

And Alex, please check your facts. In Mumme's first year when the schedule had been set there were no Division II teams. The following year Mumme begged Boston to schedule at least two Div. II teams and he did the same the following year. To lessen the embarrassment for the upcoming season NMSU went with just an 11 game schedule. What have you done for me lately? You are funny. Mumme's already been here three years going on four. What would you have us do? Wait till he has racked up 10 years of losing before making a comment? Mumme's first season 0-12. Mumme's second season 2-10.(All 10 losses were against Div. 1 schools). Mumme's third season 4-09 (Two of the wins were against Div. II schools).

Football doesn't have to be the bread winner. Soccer can replace it.

What's next from you? Are you going to spout off other idiotic statements like we need to support Bob Gallagher and spend money giving Martin a grand send off? Stop wrapping yourself up with students and think objectively. Getting rid of Boston and Mumme and replacing them with solid ethical people is the first start in ensuring our students succeed.
