Moniz was an all-state tourneyment selection for soccer...he has a serious leg. He can definitely kick field goals given a little practice. If needed in a pinch, let it fly!

Moniz is looking better, but he has got to stop throwing picks. He had a good game against Utah State, but a lot of teams have good games against Utah State, same with New Mexico State. but the improvement on both side of the ball which started at Nevada is still ongoing, and hopefully they can still finish strong.

UH should watch some tape of Central Michigan and how they run their shotgun-spread offense. CMU has Dan Lefevour, a dual threat QB similar to Moniz. They like to throw but they incorporate the read option from the shotgun, much like Vince Young @ Texas when they do run. CMU is a fun team to watch. If UH can incorporate some of what CMU does, UH can be a dangerous team the next two years.
Texas primarily uses a spread offense, and they do a great job of mixing the run and pass to keep the D off balance. UH finally ran it more (34 att.) last week and was successful vs a woeful USU. I think if UH can average 23-25 runs per game (about 40% of total plays), they can be dangerous. During our losing streak, UH averaged 17 runs per game.

he is a masoli type of qb. let him loose!

They need to incorporate more play action passes into the offense. That's what you see the other teams do regularly but not UH. Keeps the D honest. But that's the coaches call.

The play action is only good if they run efficiently. With the exception of last game, they have not. We should run more to set up the play action. UH really needs to look at their personnel and incorporates packages. Realistically, we have good WRs and good RBs this year, and a young mobile QB, and a not so strong D. We need to run more to shorten the game to take pressure off our young QB. Plus, we knew Wright Jackson had some skills and Alex Green in showing what he can do. Weather we won or lost last week, I still liked the play calling.
