2000 game a warm memory for Mids

There are 3 comments on the Baltimore Sun story from Nov 29, 2007, titled 2000 game a warm memory for Mids. In it, Baltimore Sun reports that:

It was a cold, blustery, 30-degree day in Baltimore on Dec. 2, 2000. Many in the crowd could no longer feel their faces or toes by the time Navy wrapped up a thrilling 30-28 victory over archrival Army.

I was at that game in 2000. It was the coldest I've ever been in my life. I ordered a cup of hot chocolate and by the time I got to my seat it was cold. It didn't matter though because it was one of the most entertaining games I've ever been to. I've never been to a sporting event where it seemed that the air was being sucked right out of the stadium. What a roller coaster of emotions - the way the game went!

The game this year will be as exciting as all these games are.

And even when one team dominates, everyone usually watches until the last play and Navy Blue and Gold is played/sung (OK, I'm biased...). And if that doesn't bring chills and a tear, as a friend of mine says, "your wood is wet".

Because everyone knows that this is the last time that 99.99% of these guys will be on a national stage in a football uniform.

After that, the real game will be played --- and they're all starters.

Yes! How well I remember that game! It was my first Army-Navy game in person! My son, Craig, was a freshman QB at Navy and keep the chart on the sideline in his short sleeve jersey! Viewing the game with me was my wife and brother-in-law who was shot down in Desert Storm and a POW for 26 days (Russell Sanborn) and his son, Jake. What a thrill for all of us! Go Navy.......beat Army !
