UMKC coach Brown is committed to turning things around

From the opening tip, UMKC first-year coach Matt Brown barks at his players and referees as if the next play determines an NCAA title.

But the reality on this cold Thursday evening inside a nearly empty 20,000-seat Kemper Arena was so much different. The Kangaroos were just trying to avoid a 30-point loss to North Dakota State, a program a couple of years removed from NCAA Division II.

Brown's loss total is rising faster than gasoline prices, yet he remains consistent in his coaching style. Read more
