I just say if a player screws up and has bad judgment like Jarvis Moss , Avery Atkins , Doe , Cladwell , you need to throw them off the team like Clarret. Clarret was the biggest waste of talent maybe of all time. He was unstopable as a freshman. He coud have grabbed a hiesman and another title and a first round pick if he wasnt such a moron. After all he is from Youngstown. Crime Mafioso capital of the midwest.
If I'm not mistaken, Clarrett was never thrown off the team. He talked to an agent and declared himself eligible for the draft, leaving him ineligable to compete at the college level. And there have been MANY players under Tressell that have gotten in trouble and haven't been dismissed from the team. Give it a rest ON!

This temperature debate is irrelevant. First, the teams compete on the same field, at the same time, and with the same weather conditions. The defeated team's ego will naturally create distracting "excuses" to explain their loss.
And WHY should UF schedule games at Iowa, Michigan, Penn St., etc?! In case you haven't realized, tens of millions of people voluntarily come to Florida annually (vacation, sporting events, conventions, attractions, and also to retire). Far fewer vacation up north. Know why? There's little to do and who wants to vacation in a blizzard?!
Face it, most Big 10 schools would LOVE a campus with a more moderate climate.
But it's irrelevant as the playing conditions are the same on each side of the field.
And real cities like NYC and Chicago don't. Akron Ohio has a higher population than Orlando. Im saying it is not fair to people from Ohio , Michigan and Iowa who generally are blue collared having to travel to watch their son play at Florida to play Florida in a bowl in the state lines for them. They should not have to play LSU at the super dome. The should have it on a field in cities with more attractions than New Orleanes and Orlando. New York city is one of the greatest places I have ever been. Its good enough for the NFL draft and the awards but not or a major bcs bowl? Uf and LSU have not played in the north in over 2 decades almost. The big ten goes south all the time. How is that fair.

Tressell had him off the team . He was not allowed to practice. He filed a false report while on scholarship. Tressell was going to decide what to do then Clarret sued the NFL. Caldwell was firing machine guns at apartments for christ sakes. Two years later Clarret screwed his self out of any kind of future.

Severe cold weather is rarely a factor in college football, especially in the Big 10+1, b.c. the regular season ends by Thanksgiving Weekend. Big 10+1 football is not played in frozen tundra conditions of Green Bay, Denver, and Buffalo playoff games. In fact, there was a lot of complaining about an 80 degree day during the Illinois vs Wisconsin game this past season.

In fact, some of the fatalaties surrounding college football players have been in the heat of summer workouts.

There are lot of transplants, snowbirds, and retirees from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and other northern states in California, Texas, Arizona, and Florida. Many families go ahead and visit their grandparents in these states over the holidays and stick around for the bowl game. Ohio State had almost 2/3 of the tickets in the 2006 BCS Champ game.

Yes, there have been Super Bowl games up North, in the comforts of domes. The last big snow bowl game was between Texas A&M and Miss State in nothern Louisiana.

Besides, do you really want to tailgate in some parking lot in the NJ Meadowlands.

<quoted text>Last time I check the last Florida team to come up here was the 2007,2008 Gators in basketball and we beat the shit out of them.On the other hand the UF football team has not traveled north of the Mason Dixion line in over 17 years. I wouldn't too. I went to Boca Raton in Jan of 2002. When I left Ohio it was -5 out on my thermo display on my rear view and there was about a foot of snow. I come tearing into Jacksonville and I still have ice built up around the wheel wells of all four tires covering half of the tire. My car stained with white calcium road salt and beet juice.People looked at me like I came from the North pole. I went to Florida and it was 45 degrees out. I am washing my car in shorts and a long sleeve USMC
shirt and I see a man and a woman walking their dogs. Both dog's have knitted sweaters. The people both wearing gloves, coats with the hoods up and long pants . I was shocked. It was almost 50 degrees out. I see why you stay away. here is apic I took two months ago in March.

Feb in Cleveland and we aren't a bundled up. You people are weak. I am just wearing a sweat shirt and a pair of gloves. Florida should schedule Iowa , Michigan , OSU , Penn State , Wisconsin or Michigan State in the last game of the year in late Novmember. You would be shocked at how much the cold slows people down.

Try 120 degrees (in the sun on the feild)in early Sept. down in South/Central Humid Fl. You people are weak, and cant hadle the heat. You would be shocked at how much the Heat slows people down.

Who said life was fair? All teams have some advantages and some disadvantages to their situation. Good teams worry about winning, not geography. The Big 10 has enough pull that if its fans didn't want to travel for a week of sun in the middle of winter, there would be bowl games in domes in Big 10 states. And whatever the economics of Big 10 fan bases are, I can tell you that they show up in big numbers for bowls in FL.

By the way, the 2007 US Census etimate listed 2,032,496 people in metro Orlando (27th in the country) compared to only 699,356 in metro Akron (71st in the country). And since Orlando grew at a rate of 23.6% since 2000 compared to 0.63% for Akron, I don't think Akron is going to have a larger population than Orlando anytime soon.

Someone's really got to have a lot of time on their hands and a lot of bitterness to keep this list on their computer and trot it out every time a Gator gets arrested.
I guess when you consistently lose championship games, this is what happens. What a loser!

Yeah but when it counts the BIG Two seems to come up short.
Who cares about the capitol one bowl or the outback bowl.
MICH got smoked in the Rose Bowl and the SUCKEYES got embarrased in the NC game.
Both of those big ten teams thought they were the best in the land...they were wrong.
Have the Gators ever been embarrassed in a national championship game ?
even better question

I am more of a ncaa wrestling fan and boxing fan. Both are something southerners cant do. You guys cant fight. We all saw that when Kelly Pavlik of Youngstown left Taylor from little rock slump over lifeless in the ring on september the 29 2007. We put out some of the best MMA fighters in the world.Including a deaf Matt Hamel from the Dayton area. He will be a future light heavy weight champ.Mark Coleman UFC hvy champ. Rich Franklin former middle weight champ.

Wow! NCAA Wrestling and boxing. I'm very proud of ya. That's just great. Does the cable box in your mom's basement get much college wrestling on TV?

You're kidding me, right? Yes, NYC is fabulous but how many bowls could you comfortably hold in NYC at the same time as the Times Square hoopla about a new year? NYC is pretty booked up I would imagine (not to mention the recent fear of terrorism at such a huge event).

NYC is great for awards and the draft because 80,000, fun-loving and excited fans DONT attend those events. If they required seating for that many to watch the draft, they'd move it south or hold it in a domed stadium.

They shouldn't have to play LSU at the Superdome??! The locations of the bowls are predetermined YEARS in advance of the actual game. It was a mere coincidence that LSU played in New Orleans--they could have been just as successful one year earlier and would have had to play in Arizona, like Florida did.

Cities with more attractions than New Orleans and Orlando? I believe Orlando has more attractions than any other US city (Vegas has many too)--not to mention the warmer climate, proximity to beaches, and infrastructure to handle millions of simultaneous guests. Why WOULN'T a corporate sponsor want to hold a bowl in Orlando as opposed to Akron, Ohio?

Too bad all that talent at the next level doesn't do a thing for wins at the U now! Another 5-7 season right around the corner for the Canes! And all three Universities from Florida are well represented in the NFL! Too bad you have to resort to off the field events to find fault with the Gators while we look at the many faults the Canes have on the field. They really are FUNNY to watch! A true calamity in action! The Keystone cops of college football! Thanks for the laugh!
