is there any coach in america that is lamer than calhoun when it comes to speaking to he media? i love him as our coach but this guy makes no sense. he speaks in incomplete sentenses..... poorly constructed thoughts.... please do us a favor hartford courant, don't quote him so completely. try to figure out what he's trying to say and make him sound somewhat coherent. or better yet, just talk to AJ. he likes to talk and he can finish a sentense.

There is no "team". I've been a UCONN supporter for too many years to mention, but the past two years have been the worst. There is no cohesion; there are very good individual players, but they are nothing unless they understand the "team mentality". It appears that each player is going his own way. Also, I cannot understand why these guys can't focus for forty minutes and play a complete game. I think Jim is too soft with them. He needs to go back to his old, tough coaching ways--although I know that offended some, but it worked and toughness is what these kids understand and need. Toughen up Coach!

You gotta laugh at the comments. As if you guys know how to coach... please. Coach Calhoun has been doing this for 30 years, has won two national championships, and is a hall of fame coach.

Yes calhoun its the players fault. Do you think maybe with " we tried everything but it isn't working" means something? Move on coach, got to espn or something. Thye should let moore coach the team, he brought in these duds let's see if he can get some evidence of talent out of that team.

Now I know where edsall is getting some of his coaching techniques. At least calhoun's nc wins wre legit unlike edsall's betting bowl and what should be a 7-5 season.

30 years, eh??? Ever hear of the point of diminishing returns??? Jim is only as good as his assistants and his recruits. He's lost control of the basketball program. For two years now!!! And let's face it. This program is not on the edge anymore. It's below the horizon. Just cuz he's done it for 30 years, doesn't mean a change is not warranted. Wait till we get to the heart of the schedule. A lofty goal with this coach and this bunch of under achievers is spot in the Not In Tounament (NIT)!!!!!

This has nothing to do with us "knowing" how to coach. The results are pretty obvious to most of the readers in this forum!!! Why don't you sharpen up your resume jerkwad, I hear there's going to be an opening!!! Beat the rush!

With the exception of Jeff Adrian and maybe Craig Austrie, this team is composed of a bunch of NBA hopefuls who just want to pad their own stats, make a flashy move and hopefully get to the NBA only to be waived after the preseason. None of these players are of NBA caliber. Hasheem Thabeet? What a waste of a scholarship and playing time!!! They were better off working with someone a few inches shorter but with more experience. He's got no basketball IQ or instinct. Just because you are tall doesn't mean you are going to be successful in basketball. Remember Keith Closs? Yeah he was tall, but didn't produce anything. Bottom line, IT WILL BE ANOTHER 3 YEARS BEFORE UCONN HAS A CHANCE AT A DECENT POST SEASON (and that's only if we get better recruits, JC goes away and either Dave Leito orr Howie Dickenman come back to save the program)

Thabeet has shown some real progress on catching and shooting on his field goal attempts and is markedly better on free throws, so it's premature to say he'll be a bust in the NBA. How many centers are there in the country who can block a shot and then beat the defense down the floor to dunk on the fast break? He did it in a recent game and it's something Roy Hibbert will never be able to do, and he's supposed to be a lottery pick this year--uh oh, maybe that's how bad the centers are this year!

Must be a Dom Perno fan. Recruiting is the problem. Go to rivals.com and see where this class was rated. The talent is there, not the toughness. Of course if Jeff were two inches taller....Anyway, this guy must be a Jim Dummymitis fan. Don't build the stadium, right. I'll take Calhoun over any of his out of touch detractors.
