During his soph year, JT's shooting percentages dropped off noticeably during conference play, as he seemed to lose his stroke. This year, that didn't happen. Past Sentinel beat coverage, however, would have mentioned Taylor's horrible shooting performance at Tulsa when their defense didn't need to worry about MOD's potent 3-pointers anymore. Seniors Cartright and Noel stepped up, but JT was frustrated when open shots were replaced by double teams. Nicely done, Kyle, for not rubbing that in. Taylor's potential as UCF's first NBA draft choice depends on showing his game in tourney play this year and major growth as a senior, despite the loss of UCFs 3 leaders in assists. But to be drafted, he needs to spend the summer adding new offensive moves to impress pro scouts. Stepping up his leadership (if he has that in him yet), improving his D, and raising his 3-point percentages would help the team mostly, but not his pro chances. Those latter traits can come with maturity in his mid-20s, but only if he can show he's good enough to get to the next level.
