Good article and all of it is true but to bad none of it matters since the biased east coast selection committee will more then likely just select one team in the conference and that will be the winner of the conference tournament. I have seen a couple of projections that have two and both those have uab and memphis, all others just have one. Pretty sad the conference is considered the same as all the other one bid only conferences. Utep needs to win the tournament or it will be the nit this year. Good luck to Utep!

If anyone besides UAB wins the tounament, the conference may get two, depending on how early UAB drops its game. As far as the eastern press is concerned, no basketball is played west of Indiana. Sad, but true. It is only when a couple of teams from the conference make the elite eight in the same year that the preception of the estern press will change, and I doubt if it will even then. Win it all Miners!

It's like I commented the other day. As in politics, if it doesn't happen in New York, DC, Boston, or somewhere else on the East coast, it just doesn't happen.

It's sad that these people control everything from telling us how to live to telling us who the best basketball teams are. The sports writers tell us which teams are in the top 30, then the statistics of these teams create the RPI; then they only want top RPI teams in. Fixed? Rigged?

It's amazing that UTEP is the 5th rated RPI team in CUSA. I guess that means of the top level CUSA teams playing, UTEP is the underdog.

this article is totally correct, but when an unknown team mekes it, the whole country backs them up. like last year look at all the buzz when butler made it to the finals. that's why they're called cinderelas.
