I'd like to see the Lakers resign Odom, Ariza, and Brown AND sign a quality player to the mid-level exception. I understand the luxury tax, but as long as Buss can make a profit, why not spend the extra money to help ensure more championships? The competition is getting better...so should the Lakers.
If possible, I wouldn't mind them moving Walton, Vujacik, or Morrison, if anyone will take any of those contracts. |

I agree with what they lakers did in theory. However when Dejuan Blair dropped to them, that changed the dynamic. Even if they traded down a couple spots and took him in the 2nd round, that guy was a steal for San Antonio. He will end up being the steal of the draft and he fell into the lakers lap. He posses the toughness that the Lakers could always use.

Great moves by the upper office of the Lakers with the draft picks, and then trading them for future considerations. One note though,I would like to see the Lakers try to trade Jordan Farmar and sign another quality guard in his place early in the 2010 season.

Good decision Mr GM. So, pls prioritize in keeping the current rosters intact. I'm a Lakers fanatic from the Philippines since the show time in the 80's. I really want that my Lakers to go 4 in a row or even more. Kobe, Shaq & company failed to accomplish the same but with Kobe and the existing young rosters together, I do believe that my dream will realize in 2012.
Good luck and more power! and I'm very proud for the whole LA Lakers basketball team for the job well done ... CONGRATS ... |

The man knows the numbers. They didn't get where they are by being shy in their intentions.

The biggest increase actually comes from Bynum, who will get $10 million more next year. The only way this will work is to have Kobe, Ariza, and Odom sit togeher to work out a soultion. Perhaps, they can sign a contract that will defer some of their salary increases to a future year, when some players can be dealt to another team for additional savings or if the cap goes up a that time.

That's a smart move it wouldn't be suprising if they pick up a good asset or another superstar or allstar to make the team stronger or better.

Why not trade the first rd. pick for a high 2nd rd. pick and cash ?
Also there were some quality picks up to the Lakers 2nd pick anyhow. Budinger was one of several players projected in late first rd. on most boards who fell to 2nd round.Plus there is no guarantee they can resign their free agents. So what do you do Mr. Kupchack if you cant sign Odom,Ariza, and Brown ? Sign other expensive free agents ? At least resign Odom, and pick up a true center. Which reminds me,why was center Nevill of Utah not drafted ? |
