Wisconsin ran the ball well particularly when it did so inside but looked too predictable at times allowing TCU to tee off on Tolzien when he was in the pocket. The Frogs were pretty quick when the Badgers tried to run outside and went underneath the blocks at times. Plus the Badger passing attack was almost entirely down the middle of the field. Getting 385 yards against a good defense is great but overall there was not much offensive ingenuity. Combine that with soft pass defense with a lot of cushion against receivers, lousy clock management at the end of the first half and leaving itself with no additional time/opportunity to get the ball back at the end of the game and you get this outcome.
Wisconsin's loss to BCS buster TCU was the appropriate ending to a disastrous bowl day for the Big 10: 0-5 while being outscored 204-102. The league answered the critics with a resounding confirmation of its inadequacy from a national perspective including failing to carry the BCS banner against a team that was not an automatic qualifier. OSU can either complete the woeful picture by losing against the Hogs or get a small piece of conference respectability back by winning-but even that will be tainted scandal.
The Big 10 may not be as bad as the ACC or Big East (yet) but it is the third or fourth best BCS conference (perhaps interchangeable with the Big 12) well behind the SEC and PAC 10. One wonders at what point OSU and Big 10 recruiting will start to suffer significantly as a result of not just the perception but also the apparent reality of league inferiority.
The issue is that the mid-west is a dying area. Everyone is moving west or south. Recruiting bases are getting larger there and shrinking in the mid-west. Additionally many universities focus too much on sports and not enough on what their primary mission should be (Ohio State included obviously). But nobody does it better than the SEC and THAT is becoming a national tragedy. Watching college football is something I've always enjoyed but watching the SEC get away with one scandal after another and then the whole drama in Columbus could just about make a guy turn off the TV.

I just wanna know where that badger bashing buckeye nut is. Thank you Wisconsin for embarrsing the entire Big Ten conferece. You are now linked with alabama and oklahoma as a laughing stock that could not beat one of the little guys. We all knew michigan would lose and it was a surprise to see msu get blasted but wisconsin does what wisconsin always does and thats lose a big game.

The Big Ten has always been a bad conference. Back in the Woody and Bo era there were very few SEC Big Ten match ups. The "Bear" destroyed Woody in their only meeting. The BCS has exposed the Big Ten.
Penn State went undefeated in their first Big Ten season. A once proud program has now settled into the mediocre conference. In the last decade only one Big Ten team is considered nationally for a national championship run.
I have understood for a long time why the rest of the country is tired of the Big Ten. Uconn won the Big East - so what! They proved that they did not belong in the BCS, and the Fiesta Bowl ended up being the worst game in decades.
Penn State did not go undefeated in it first year of Big Ten Play. Kijana
and his boys came to the shoe and got handled but the Bucks and they lost
To Mich. They played in the 1994 Florida Citrus Bowl against Tenn when Heath Shuler (Rep) and all the experets said they would lose being a slow Big Ten Team. They shut
down the Vols fast break offense and put on the Vols 31 to 13 which propelled
them into going undefeated in their second season of Big Ten play and won
the Rose Bowl against Oregon and got dised by The AP and Coachs Poll who
gave the National Championship to Nebraska.

The SEC #2 lost to the Big 10 #2. The Big 10 #1 lost to the #2 ranked team in the country by two points. Sure, the Michigan teams were overmatched. But just imagine a playoff scenario where 'Bama had to play in East Lansing in December. OOPS, the Big 10 is against a playoff, so I suppose it's post season in the South forever. It's the stuffed shirts at the top that are bringing the Big X down. That includes the Bowl Officials who call all the shots, whether it's player suspensions (not for the bowl game) or the puny net purses paid to the universities (don't even cover expenses). Playoffs mean lower expenses (esp for the fans); packed stadiums in college football environments; big weather games; and not having to share the purse with overpaid bowl officials who run up expenses like a drunken sailor who just won the lottery.

Also one needs to mention the success of depleted Iowa against Missouri, the Big XII #4. The stuffed shirts of the Big X and the Ohio St. AD needs to take up TCU on their offer for a game. Ohio State and TCU don't need any more cupcake Septembers. It would sell out in Dallas or Columbus, given the "great" Gordon Gee's comments.
