I would think Tennessee would jump at the chance to get another Vince Young. It worked out so well the first time. Hope Minnesota doesn't.

Umm, I don't think so. First of all, even if Newton lasts until #12, the Vikings would only be inviting more drama at the QB position instead of bringing some stability. After the roller-coaster ride that was Daunte Culpepper, the force-feeding of Tarvaris Jackson by Childress, and the courting of Favre by Childress in a desperate attempt to save his job, Viking fans have had enough of all that. We need a solid QB who can stay out of trouble off the field while playing well enough to win on it on a consistent basis.

Secondly, if there are six teams dumb enough to pass on Bowers, I'd be shocked. Mallet at #3 to Buffalo? I can't see them doing that, because it's not like Ryan Fitzpatrick is a bad QB. They need too much help in other areas to take a QB that high.

Locker at #10? I don't think even the Redskins would be dumb enough to do that. Locker had a horrible senior year, and isn't worth a top ten pick.

The Vikings need to land a veteran QB (I'd prefer Orton over Hasselbeck) who can start right away, let Webb develop as a backup, and draft someone who can be developed. But with their first pick, they need either an offensive lineman (maybe on OT which would allow us to trade McKinnie) or a ballhawking DB.

Cleveland, SF and Tennessee will ALL take Newton if he's available. Maybe the Vikings can get Vince Young. He's psycho enough for them.
Nice try

Why would Cin need a CB? The have Joseph and Hall which are both very good CBs? Apparently this guy knows nothing.

Cam Newton is going to suck. I would rather have any other first round quarterback than him. The only reason he threw for 67 percent is because he threw an average of around 19 times a game and only broke three hundred yards twice while not breaking 200 five times, and didnt break 100 in one abismal game. So everytime he threw it, it was a suprise to a defense. What youll get if they draft him is a micheal vick who hasnt developed the ability to throw yet. And I am not anxious to have another project on our hands or another jamarcus russel

Pick up Payton Manning. He is ready to leave the Dolts. If the Vikes ownership was smart enough to hire Dundy = DONE DEAL! Farve could not hold a candle to Peyton's ability to see the field, etc. Plus Peyton does not send text messages as a married man.

Wake up! Draft a QB of the future...it is not webb...I am am in my 40's and can still throw as hard as joe webb...get someone with an arm...and the ability to see the field...not mcnabb or any retread...there is a reason they are let go Obvioysly Aaron rogers is better at his young age than farve at the same age and he is better now...wake up...get a qb vikes in the draft...get rid of ap or someone...

Don't take Newton... just for the sake of taking a quarterback. We need one, but not that one!

Are they letting journalism interns write mock drafts, or is this some program for the disabled?

The Bills won't draft Mallet. He'll drop in the actual draft.
NO WAY does Cincy draft a CB in the first round. They already have a fantastic starting CB tandem.

The Cards won't draft a developmental QB like Gabbert, or a QB period. They already have two developmental QBs they love on roster in Max Hall and Skelton. They won't be able to put either on practice squad. They are not going to have 4 qbs on roster. They will bring in a vet.

If you think Julio Jones goes before AJ Green you are on crack.

Da'Quan Bowers drops to seven? Not likely.

If the Vikings draft Cam Newton my head will explode. I love the Vikes, but they are dumb enough to do it.

Look, I'd love it if we could draft a franchise QB in round one, but without a very expensive trade, it's not going to happen. With our third round pick already wasted on Randy Moss, the Vikings don't have that luxury. Besides, with Luck staying at Stanford, are any of the other QBs in the draft worth that gamble?

I don't know whether Webb is the QB of the future or not, but I'm not ready to say he isn't. His first start against Philly was impressive, and he throws a better, more accurate ball than Tarvaris Jackson ever did. One thing Webb does not need is to be mishandled the way Tjack was. Let Webb have time to develop instead of just handing him the starting job.

But without a veteran QB who can start right away, this team is doomed to last place next year and beyond until they find/develop a solid QB. Look what happened to Arizona this past season. Without Kurt Warner, they were awful.

So it I were running the Vikings, I'd trade Bryant McKinnie to Denver for Kyle Orton, draft an OT in round one, and look for a promising QB (without reaching for one) in later rounds.

Cam Newton. Ugggh. Auburn ran the spread, the Vikes didn't and won't. Completing 67% in the spread against college defenses doesn't translate to stardom in the NFL. Also, his running ability will be negated quite a bit in the NFL. Not interested. Was he that impressive last night. Not really. Missed some really open receivers when he could have blown the game open. Made some really poor decisions also.

The Vikings need linemen both on offense and defense. The need safety help. Why would they spend their first draft pick on something as ephemeral as a quarterback; especially a player that appears to be better slated as a wide receiver? I believe they should go line man or defensive secondary.

I also believe we should go for o-line help and defense. Newton, NOT, NO WAY, NO HOW! Even with a new QB, no matter if it is a vet or a rook, we don't stand to fair very well in the wins column next year any way. With Luck coming out next year and a rebuilding of the Vikes in LA, the age of the defense and offense needs to coincide with the developing QB.
Luck would rather play in California than in Minnesota. So, loose as many games next year as possible, move to LA, which is what's going to happen any way, because the Minnesota people are to stupid to realize what they have, and draft Luck for the future. A championship will never come to the Vikings, at least not in Minnesota.

Cam Newton is a joke and I would prefer the joke not be on the Vikings. Joe Webb is a much better prospect and already well ahead of Newton. OT is the pick

Greg, Cam Newton is not a joke. Heisman Trophy winner, and BCS Championship QB. How is that a joke. Not Tom Brady nor Roethlisberger can say they won a NCAA championship or Heisman.

Ummmmmmmmmmm No, Let me be more specific, Cam Newton will be a joke on any team that drafts him to be an NFL QB. How's that? There is a long list of college players who won the Heisman who never had success in the NFL.

In addition to his lack of passing ability and accuracy playing against better competition in the BCS game, he looks like trouble from a personal perspective, with his fathers actions and his arrest for stealing a laptop. This guy couldn't carry Joe Webb's water. If anything Newton might make a better receiver or tight end than QB.

4 QBs that soon seems like alot. and A.J. Green not in the top 12?... highly unlikely, I think he will go before Julio Jones
