Hasn't Stanford finished 8th, not 9th?(orig projected last) As your insightful article suggests, coaching may have explained a 2nd half shift in competitiveness. While still below 500, Cardinal were knocking on the door at almost every game - an with a ball bounce here and there, could have been in 4th place. I would not count them out in the PAC10 tourney - never has an 8th place team had a better chance of an upset! Dawkins staff, Fields (POY performance-wise) and crew are much more effective and could easily take it!
