A team cannot have all super stars, it needs some role players.

Now we're beating out Penn State for players? Color me nonplused.

These last 2 recruits are passing under the radar......way under the radar. I hope they are not Sean Klines reincarnated!!

There have been plenty on non-highly recruited players that have had a very big impact for their respective schools to include just about EVERY player Knight recruited. Give him a chance.

Calbert Cheaney was not a highly recruited kid.... he worked ok.

Sampson knows what he's doing, it takes all types of players to build a championship team, roles need to be played.

Think of Duke, UNC, Florida, etc - although these teams had several superstars, not all of them were. And even some of the superstars didn't come out of high school with all the fanfare.

Sampson knows what he's doing. He's the coach.

Sounds like a kid who probably will never be a superstar in college, but understands his role and how he can contribute to the team. Sounds like a kid who will put the team first. Once upon a time we took a lot of pride in the fact that a certain coach had a lot of success recruiting kids like this.....I think we should afford Coach Sampson the courtesy.

One nice thing about recruiting a kid like this, he will probably be around for 4 years. His Junior & Senior year could be when the benefits pay off for Coach Sampson.
Fans get to hung up about recruiting these one year wonders.

Congrats to Tom for his successes, and for getting a B10 schollie. He sounds like a good kid. Best of luck to him.(I still hate IU though. ;-))

If only being recruited by Penn State isn't bad enough, his statistics arn't too glowing either. I guess Samsel has given up going head to head with Painter after losing the last six of seven recruits to Purdue.

Does this confirm the fact that Sampson has given up on Indiana players? Or does he have free long distance on his cell?

Hey, don't dog on Sean Kline. It didn't appear he ever fully recovered from his injury, and he always played hard. After his injury it was a disgrace how the fans booed him.

Tom is the best IU could do? What? Were Earlham and Hanover out of scholies for Tommy? Well, considering I'm headed to God's country and not Bloominghole, I guess SOMEBODY has to plod in the middle. I can't wait to pound on Tommy and the Hoosiers when I sign w/ Purdue....it will be TOOOO easy.

This kid is a late bloomer. He wasn't even on the radar until he started playing very well in summer camp. He's a big body who likes playing in the post.

I don't want a team full of guys like this but you sure need a couple of them.

I think Tedster makes a really good point - if all we ever do is go after superstars, we'll be rebuilding every single year. The most we can get out of this year's JUCO guys is two years, and EJ will most likely only give one (depending on how the year goes). DJ and Lance are seniors, so you need to have your eye on the horizon a little bit too.

I think Tom Pritchard is a perfect fit for Sampson's 2008 class. He is the strong forward type favored by Sampson who can set screens, play great defense, score down low and grab some rebounds. Tom will thus fit very well with the slasher-type recruits in that class (Eubanks and Mackey) and with the spot-up 3-point shooter Roth. Now all they need is Zeller and that will be a championship recruiting class.

Two words: Brian Sloan.

He knew his role and made the other people on the floor better because of that.
