I dont watch much WNBA, but the stats go against Catchings. The only thing she is better in is assists and steals. This leads me to believe she is a better team player and a better defender. I hope she wins it.

What the stats don't tell you is how often she will deflect a pass that could have resulted in an easy shot. Maybe the steal doesn't happen every time, but when she is on the court, there are few easy baskets coming from anywhere in her area. What is amazing to see is when she does make a turnover, she takes it personally and raises the level of her game to get the ball back. She has done that over and over again. She leads the team and fires everyone up by her effort. Those are the things the stats don't show you. If you want to see a ballplayer, buy a ticket. It has been a fun year!

Catchings is the league's most valuable player hands down... If it were based solely on scoring than yes give it to the player who scores the most points, then you see more selfish players simply going for scoring titles. She does have an all around game and she comes as a high energy player I love to watch. I anticipate that she will win the All Star MVP as a prelude to the league MVP... GO FEVER!!!

A very nice article, David (and high time it was written!). No one more richly deserves the MVP award than Tamika. She is the consummate team player and one who gives the greatest attention and effort to every aspect of the game. She is the quintessential role model for all who wish to understand team sports and learn how to play them at the highest level. She is also a great example of being a good sport; no one wants to win more than Tamika (as evidenced by her endless effort and never-say-die spirit), yet no one is quicker to share praise or is more humble and equally gracious in victory and defeat. And such a cute, charming sweetheart of a person! How very much sports and sportsmanship would be enhanced if all -- from the preschoolers to the (preschooler-like) Kobes and Terrells -- would emulate Ms. Tamika Catchings!

Catch is the best. She plays great team ball, but also knows how to use her skills to step above and beyond when needed. Go Catch, Go Fever!

OK first off you have to be pretty desperate for good basketball if you watch the NBA and you gotta be even more desperate for good basketball if you watch the WNBA. Seriously people who watch the NFL Europe are less desperate for a good game then people who watch any type of pro basketball.

But for the record, I will be happy for the Fever if they win a WNBA title. It would be a nice 2006/2007 componet to the Colts lambardi trophy. The trophy would also be great, because it would mark this states second ever championship in professional sports in exsistance today. But until that happens, I could care less about any type of Pro Basketball.

Well at least you aren't so anti-women playing sports. And I have to agree Pro Ball pales in comparsion to College but I'm still a fan of both

She is the MVP. Thanks you! Scoring is
just part of the game. She's the big O in the WNBA. That all around game. Bill Russell win MVP and he didn't win the Scoring Title. MVP must be points/game.

But she doesn't have a ring, that is if they even give any for the WNBA championship.

Actually, I watch all thoes sports on an HD PLasma screen TV (except allot of times I sub in NASCAR or hockey for baseball). And for the record, if the fever make the WNBA finals I will be watching that game on the old plasma screen in true HD as well. But until then, I will basically have no desire for the WNBA because the NBA is bad enough.

EITHER WAY I WILL SOUND OFF WISHING THE FEVER LUCK IN THE TOURNY.
