Full story: Hartford Courant

Hasheem Thabeet was always cryptic about his future plans, but from the moment he stepped on campus in 2006 it was obvious this day would come.

Glad to see him go but then again, it won't be pretty watching him flop in the NBA

Thabeet will eventually become a good NBA player that's all...Good not great. He will get beat up regularly in his rookie season....He will then hit the weights harder and learn to administer some punishment in return.
He will continue to struggle offensively.

Gavin can be a big guy who can make an outside shot bring his man away from the rim. Johnathan Mandeldove where are you? missed you this year, more minutes 07-08 season than this past year. I expect to see you PLAYING next year. Thank You Hasheem Thabeet, Thabeet in the green!

Anyone else think its funny that past posters were 100% correct in that the courant was only printing on the NCAA violations by Uconn prior to game nights. As soon as they lost and the tourney was over isn't it funny there hasn't been anything about it since... Way to show your loyalties courant. Great job on reporting... and for those who can't tell that was sarcasm.

Yes, money is all that matters. Welcome to the harsh reality of 21st century western culture.

It does make perfect economic sense for him to declare right now. If things go as planned, he won't need any degree for the foreseeable future. He can always get it later in life.

The good news is he'll be rich.

The bad news is he'll get bro-handled in the NBA and end up riding off into the European sunset!!!!

Huge mistake on his part!

I asked this before with other posters and never got a response, why do you care if a guy on the basketball team gets a degree?

How can you come to this conclusion??? Suppose a team like Washington drafts him, who has Caron Butler, Jameson, and Gilbert Arenas as major offensive threats. In this situation Thabeet gets 4 or 5 easy dunks per game, just from the defense collapsing and leaving him open, 10 rebounds, and a few blocks. That would be excellent for a rookie center. Thabeet has the ability to block shots at any level. How many great shotblockers are in the NBA right now? answer: 2. He is a rare commodity.

Pam - Get real!
The economy is in the toilet. There are few jobs available for college grads (actually anybody. Why wouldn't he take the money? He can always get his degree later if he wants. What if he stayed for his senior year and tears an ACL?

As an aside, I have to say that if I were Calhoun, I would not be breathing a WORD right now about Majok's potential.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Taurus

It's important that you leave yourself plenty of room to manouvres during the weeks ahead, as Mercury turns retro today, especially when it comes to making decisions and airing your opinions to the world. You need to be as flexible as possible right now, otherwise you could find that you've boxed yourself into a corner and have to do some serious back-tracking. You need to consider all points of view and not just your own.
