Good solid home win (67-51) over a MUCH improved Penn State team. Can PSU shoot lights-out from behind the arc?!? What were they, 9 - 13? And some of those shots were at least 6 FEET behind the arc - AMAZING!

Sure hope Martin's ankle sprain isn't serious - the Young Boilers need him for the next 2 games (WI on Saturday followed by MSU at home).

GREAT WIN, BOILERS! Keep working at the things you need to address while doing the other things you do sooooo well. BOILER UP!

==========

Just heard this stat on the BTN after the game - Robbie Hummel is only 1 fo 4 freshmen NATIONWIDE that has at least 200 points, 100 rebounds, and 50 assists.

WOW - this boy is going to be an All-American before his Purdue basketball career is over.

Solid home win over a MUCH improved Penn State team. Can PSU shoot lights-out beyond the arc, or what?!?!? Several of their shots were at least 4-6 FEET behind the arc - AMAZING. Though Purdue had its problems the first half, they (as usual) made some half-time adjustments and clamped down on Penn State the 2nd half.

Did you hear on the BTN after the game that Robbie Hummel is 1 of only 4 freshmen NATIONWIDE that has at least 200 points, 100 rebounds and 50 assits. This fella is going to be an All-American before his playing days at Purdue are over.

BOILER UP, boys, cause you have a tough road game this Saturday at WI. Sure hope Martin's ankle sprain isn't too serious - the Boilers need him the next two games against WI and MSU.

Great game from the starters & JuJaun. Marcus Green came up big again tonight. Great leadership from one of our few upperclassmen. Terrence struggled a little tonight, but he'll be back. Painter was interviewed by BTN after the game. Said that Martin has had both ankles sprained and that's really slowed him. Hopefully, he can get healthy soon.

Hail Purdue!

Who would have ever thought 9-1 after 10 games with the lone defeat being a close 3 pt game @ MSU.

Go Boilers, continue to play team ball and great defense.

Maybe it is time for the IU Star to get a full time beat writer for Purdue, they deserve it. Since the last time I looked they were they were located in Indiana.
Besides they have more players from Indiana then the other school(IU) has.
Who is in first place in the Big Ten ? I know, do you?

Go Boilers

A lot of similarities in style of play and character of players/coaches.

HUGE game in Madison on Saturday and another at home against Michigan St. next week. Looking forward to seeing how we fare in this upcoming stretch... Gotta love the way this Purdue team is playing right now.

This post says it all all, Missou B. These guys are better than our very good team last year.  Look out basketball nation!  Forget the polls.  Those voting are not experts or informed.  They're just BBall lackeys.
If these Boilers play to their ability,  "SWEET SIXTEEN BABY!".   But you won't hear Dickey V. saying that because he hates Bobby's rivals.  Sorry to get off topic, but who cares about D.V.?  Not me, that's for sure.  It is Ironic that this would be the year BK retires, in that Purdue begins an emergence now.

How many long time Purdue fans have posted that this is, potentially, the best team they've seen?  I saw the teams of the mid 80's, full of potential, falter.  I don't see that with this team.  They are SOLID.

The Big Ten is in a down year?  No they aren't.  The worst teams, which was their overall downfall, are improving by leaps and bounds.  They won't get to prove it much;  overshadowed by the best teams in the league, but still a threat to, at least, 4 top 15 teams...Wisconsin, Purdue, Mich St, IN.

Loving it!

Billy Packer, who I'd never before heard say a good word about a Purdue team, was very complimentary of our baby Boilers earlier this year. I think they are gaining more and more respect every time they lace up the sneakers.

How much earlier in the year was that? What would he say now? Not much, I'm sure; because Packer is a BBall Lackey who was throwing us a cookie when he thought we were a flash in the pan. He knows very little about Purdue and won't be bragging on them now that they appear to be capable of threatening his favorites, come year end. He and D.V. and the rest of them are just highly paid mouth pieces, devoid of any real knowledge. Their favorites are always upset in the tourney because they know nothing about the national basketball scene. In their defense, they can't follow every team; but they shouldn't act like the definative authorities that they do.
I'm beginnning to like the term Baby Boilers. I didn't at first; it sounded demeaning, even though I knew it wasn't meant that way. They're young, and that empahsizes that fact. But, unlike many top rated teams; they're taking care of business on and off the court, on their own merit. They are MEN. Young men, but responsible young men. I'm appalled at the crap that is going down south of Indy. You don't even know, and I can't say it. It makes a realistic B.K. assessor like me appreciate the guy, now that Sampson is there.
I had almost forgotten what is like to take pride in a top notch basketball club. I've never been prouder, not even in '87; when that club was ranked 4th. Unlike then, this team won't let us down.

...the '88 Purdue team was ranked 4th, and tanked.  The '87 Hoosier team was the last IU team really I liked;  national champs and with a coach that hadn't developed an ego as bigger than Btown....

Nah--I kind of like it like this. It keeps the Boilers inspired. If they get too many good clippings, they will get the big head and loose it. I have seen it before. And, if we did get someone, it would proabably be a Brian Gumball-type, who doesn't know anything about sports. He probably wouldn't(couldn't) even spell their names right. It is ok to get no respect. I really like the Rodney Dangerfield approach. Go Boilers!!!

God Vitale is back announcing tonight and of course it would be the NC_Duke game since he's such a homer for them and IU. Will have to turn the volumne down again now. lol And Packer is a good announcer but he is an ACC homer as well. But at least he played his basketball at WFU so thats to be expected. Vitale didn't. And Lord Keady is sooooo bad as an announcer. I love him but damn he was awful last night. lol

Much like the NHL strike, I didn't miss Vitale in his absense. I do not wish ill of him, but he is the single worst thing to happen to college basketball ever.
And Gene, give it up. Go back to coaching and teaching. Take a nice job at a D III school and take them al lthe way. Basketball at its most fundamental. just stay off the airwaves!

Packer was, is, and always will be an idiot for his beloved ACC. But on National TV, all exposure is good for our recruiting. As for Dick Vitale, he doesn't even know anything about BB. I had to laugh when GK referred to Purdue as "we", then said, "Whoops, I can't say that." I love him, but a game announcer he is not. He's not as bad in the studio.
