I teach at a middle school where our 8th grade girls could score this few/many points. But this is NCAA Div.1, Top 25 team, etc. I don't think this was a defensive contest...both teams played poorly. If I'd bought tickets for that game, I probably would have left. C'mon, Illini, we can do better.

Dear Coach Weber,

In a span of 40 minutes, you killed any chance of a Big Ten title, a 3-seed in the tournament, and possibly lost a first round bye in the BTT. Next time, please don't look past a game. I can't keep defending you if you keep f'ing up like this.

PS I know DMac was sick. I believe you have a dozen other guys on the team.

PPS - yes a win @ OSU will make me feel better.

This is not a Top 25 team. Two games under 40 points? Barely beating IU? Are you kidding me? What a joke. Luckily, they don't play in the Big East or ACC...

Fact is, if the Illini keep playing this way, I cannot promise you a bailout. You need to bring CHANGE on yourself.

I have no excuses for this game or the game at Minnesota, but to say we "barely" beat IU when we had the largest winning margin in Bloomington this season is pushing it.

I was at this game and I think I died a little inside during it. If our shots aren't falling we don't really have any other options.

The team continues to lack that one strong, consistent leader. It has NO hope in the post-season.

Thankfully I was gone and missed this game. Would someone who watched this debacle tell me what really went wrong. HOW could Illinois NOT shoot any free throws. From what I could see
the sophomores were pathetic, if the box score is any indication.
And WHY wouldn't you go strong to the basket per the TRIB article when you have Keller, Davis and Tisdale?

PER Murphy from Canada. I thought Frazier was supposed to be leading this
team. Shouldn't he be rallying the troops. I think we MUST accept this team is not ready this year. I hope someone show up with some leadership *&^^$ next year.

12-1 in the "pre-season" and 9-5 in the Big Ten shows how weak this conference is. My guess is the B-10 will not get past the 2nd round in the NCAA.

Pathetic. And to loose like this at home. Goodbye Top 20, goodbye Big 10 Title, goodbye NCAA seed. Goodbye Bruce???

Pathetic display of basketball and a loss that will cause them to spiral downward, out of the Top 25, and essentially out of the NCAA tourney. I do not see this team beating any of their remaining opponents in the regular season and they will lose in the first round of the Big Ten tourney, finish with a 21-11 record, and send them to the NIT. Forget the RPI ranking this year. The NCAA Tournament selection committee looks at bad losses and whether the team actually has talent on the floor. They will not select teams that lay eggs and thus make the tourney boring and uncompetitve. If you don't believe me, just re-read this in three-to-four weeks.

Get ready Illini fans. Look at the schedule. They could lose 5 in a row, finish 9-9, in 7th place, and not make the NCAA tournament.
They MUST win one more regular season game to be sure they're in, there's too many teams with 7 wins that could end up with 10 or 11 wins and pass Illinois. This has the potential of going from a surprise season to a disaster. NIT anyone?

Totally agree that this team could lose all of their re:BIG 10 games
Let's just see how mentally tough they REALLY are, starting w/ Bruce.

It was a game for the ages, a real rarity.

Over the course of a year, nearly all teams are going to have a game where they're going to show up and just play horribly and get blown out. Both teams had that game last night. Neither team deserved to win but someone had to.

I heard a national radio announcer read the score this morning: " Penn State defeated 16th-ranked Illinois 38 to 33 last night. Apparently, they ran out of time to play the back nine."

You take this game and you're tempted to throw the tape away, if you're the coaching staff. Tisdale had eight or nine shots go in and out, Illinois did not attempt a free an free throw all night ... it just goes on and on. It was a crazy game.

Illinois' wasn't the 16th best team in the country going into the game. They play in a fairly weak conference, and they've played way above their heads this year, to their credit. They're very unlikely to win more than one game n the NCAA tournament. Expectations should be realistic.

How can you lose to Penn State? For a Big School, PSU has one the worst b-ball programs going.

Are you people drunk? First one dolt says "The Big Ten is weak" yeah ok that is why they are rated number 2 in the country. Illinois beat Missouri, you do know Missouri, 2nd place in their conference??, They took it to Purdue twice they are NOT a Final Four team but a heck of a lot better than last year. Granted a miserable game, does not bode well for NCAA's but give it a rest people, look at this team, they are squeezing all they can out of what they have. Penn State BEAT Michigan State on their floor, so Mr. Pittsburgh get a clue, have you been under a rock this year?

NIT? Yeah ok Illinois will crumble and curl up and cry. Let's see how Michigan State fares in Champaign.

We shall see how the B10 does tourney time you fair weathered whiners. Football? Yes Big Ten stinks but in hoops every time someone counts out the Big 10 they do well. Go watch the Big East and stay out of the Midwest boards.
