I have DISH-HD service, and it INCLUDES an HD-DVR; I didn't have to buy any equipment.OK, all this comparing Cable and Satellite prices doesn't seem to be going anywhere to me. I'll admit, it sucks having cable like me (Comcast, formerly Insight) and missing most of the games. I don't have a radio in the house that tunes to the right station. Against Iowa I was following the game on ESPN gamecast and that thing pissed me off that it was inaccurate at the wrong time. It said 52 - 47 Purdue near the end on a shot by Moore. However, Purdue only had 50, which was a pretty important detail when the score was tied 50 - 50 with 5 sec. What a croc.
I have stuck with cable for a few reasons. The main reason is because you can rent a HD / DVR receiver from them. I am pretty sure neither satellite company offers this. You can get one but not the other. You would have to purchase this equipment. Both are very important features to me. Also with this pricing people keep talking about, I guess around $70 per month and then you add cable internet for like $45. That's maybe about the same total price as mine now.
Like someone else suggested, anyone wanting to check things out for themselves should go on-line to both DirectTV and DISH to see what they have to offer, and all of their packages.
BTW - what GREAT timing; the beginning of the BTN with the great revival to Purdue Boilermaker basketball - ya gotta luv it!
Like so many others have commented, this is truly a special team to watch. And to think they are so YOUNG but yet playing way beyond their years! This will also help Matt with recruiting. Some of that young Indiana talent that has been leaving the state for the NCs and Dukes and other great basketball programs....you can bet that they are watching AND paying attention as well. Who wouldn't want to be part of a program that appears to be gearing up for a long stretch of being a Top 10 ten after this year.
BOILER UP for Tuesday's game against Penn State. Even though the Young Boilers belew them out on their home court, the team that beat #7 Michigan State on Saturday looks very good and confident.
GO GET 'EM, BOILERS!!
