OK, all this comparing Cable and Satellite prices doesn't seem to be going anywhere to me. I'll admit, it sucks having cable like me (Comcast, formerly Insight) and missing most of the games. I don't have a radio in the house that tunes to the right station. Against Iowa I was following the game on ESPN gamecast and that thing pissed me off that it was inaccurate at the wrong time. It said 52 - 47 Purdue near the end on a shot by Moore. However, Purdue only had 50, which was a pretty important detail when the score was tied 50 - 50 with 5 sec. What a croc.
I have stuck with cable for a few reasons. The main reason is because you can rent a HD / DVR receiver from them. I am pretty sure neither satellite company offers this. You can get one but not the other. You would have to purchase this equipment. Both are very important features to me. Also with this pricing people keep talking about, I guess around $70 per month and then you add cable internet for like $45. That's maybe about the same total price as mine now.
I have DISH-HD service, and it INCLUDES an HD-DVR; I didn't have to buy any equipment.

Like someone else suggested, anyone wanting to check things out for themselves should go on-line to both DirectTV and DISH to see what they have to offer, and all of their packages.

BTW - what GREAT timing; the beginning of the BTN with the great revival to Purdue Boilermaker basketball - ya gotta luv it!

Like so many others have commented, this is truly a special team to watch. And to think they are so YOUNG but yet playing way beyond their years! This will also help Matt with recruiting. Some of that young Indiana talent that has been leaving the state for the NCs and Dukes and other great basketball programs....you can bet that they are watching AND paying attention as well. Who wouldn't want to be part of a program that appears to be gearing up for a long stretch of being a Top 10 ten after this year.

BOILER UP for Tuesday's game against Penn State. Even though the Young Boilers belew them out on their home court, the team that beat #7 Michigan State on Saturday looks very good and confident.

GO GET 'EM, BOILERS!!

There is no comparison. GO GET DISH!! I have DTV and they installed 4 rooms with a DVR for $50. BTN is part of the basic package of $49.00 (or so).

To answer the question of who is to blame. COMCAST!!! They are so shortsided that they are requiring the BTN to be on a sports tier to be able to charge more money. The Big Ten told them to go kiss the twins and put it on basic packages. My installer said he has TRIPLED his installs since football season on a monthly basis and that all his colleagues are the same. Comcast thinks that they are too big to be told "what to do". Enjoy the shrinking income, Comcast idiots. Cable is managing, and pricing, themselves out of the running in many areas of the country.

is there anything that can be done about The Big Ten Network? I'm an old retired guy who is already paying $82/month to the damned cable company for TV and Internet service. I really miss watching the Boilers. An earlier post indicated that BTN was on the Dish network. Is it included with a package or is it optional at so much a month? God, I hate this cable company.
What the hell is your problem... look into it for God sake and you will find that for $52 a month you can get 200 channels, one of which is the BTN, with the Dish Network...

Man, get a life... I am so tired of hearing you guys bitch and moan.

It's tough to know Moore would most likely be in an Illini uniform if it wasn't for Gordon's "decommitment." For all those who think that Gordon was just one player lost are kidding themselves!
I must say though, it is refreshing see the clean program from Indiana start winning and the dirty one losing!
Doubtful he'd gone to illinois either way - Moore wanted to play with his AAU teammates(Martin and Hummel) in college and committed after the first of them did.

Most D-1 coaches wore Tennis Shoes this weekend in their games and will be auctioned to benefit Cancer Research. This started a few years back. And, yes Painter and his staff were wearing tennis shoes along with the majority of other coaches throughout the country.
Does that answer your question.
Hey INDY STAR....I want to write for you.

I told my Hoosier friends when he was at East Chicago that if E was in Indianapolis, he would be neck and neck for Mr. Basketball votes with Eric Gordon. I will say it again; Gordon is a great scorer-- E'twaun Moore is a great PLAYER. He has a more complete game than Gordon, and it is starting to show. Gordon's game is perfect for the NBA-- good luck to him. Moore and co. are in West Lafayette for one thing-- to cut down the nets.

Way to have a positive attitude. I'm sure you're probably a I.U. fan with wishful thinking. No one thought the Boilers would be in 1st place all by themselves. But they are. As you said "half way through the conference". I'm proud as hell of these young kids and how they play. Painter has done a great job getting these guys to play team ball.
If they hold home court and win a couple more road games anything can happen. You keep doubting them and I'll keep getting up at 2 in the morning and cheering for them.
I'am an American!!!! Go!!!! Boilers!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your service & representing the Boilers over seas!!!
