“Butler Wins, Butler Wins!!!!!!” Since: Jan 08
Plainfield ISP: Indianapolis, IN |
I really thought the Jags would do it last night. What a great season IUPUI had. What a great year for basketball in this state!
Not sure what Patterson was doing at the end of game but nice job Jags. We support you and are proud.
George Hill will be best college player in state next year. Wow! |
Wassup with IUPUI's bigs? They were horrible. Especially the power forward. If they can just find athletes that can rebound, block shots & make a couple of layups. They would be on Butler's level.
Wow!! What a great night to watch IUPUI and Butler back-to back on national TV. Vewry proud of both teams and both coaches. Both of these groups play with class, but play hard. I hope the Jags make the NIT, they should, and good luck Dawgs in the NCAA.
P.S. The next person that sticks up for Bob Krapvitz is an idiot. Two great programs on national TV, he could have stayed home to do his work, and no article. He must have been working up another in depth article on the Pacers. Oh! Wait a minute! Butler and IUPUI won't get his ugly mug on ESPN, that's why!! |
why so much playing time for Conner? he could not gaurd anybody? Man is he slow. Why to go Jags
The guys made too many mistakes that I haven't seen from them for awhile. They were leaving some of the ORU guys unguarded and I knew that was going to hurt us. I hope we make the NIT because those guys deserve it. We are only losing three guys so we should be pretty good next year. So hopefully next year will be our year.

congratulations Ron and IUPUI.....I hope the committee uses their brain and let your team play in the NCAA's.
yeah i know, they dont have any true athletic big men and as i said yesterday they do nothing to hit the boards. just leap. i applaud their efforts though. great season but has anyone seen their schedule? WEAK! no way they get a bid for the ncaa. only two teams stick out, marq.(L)and umass (W). the others are like playing "slippery rock valley" before conference play. they gotta beef up their out of conference schedule a bit and get some other big guys in there to support hill. montgomery can play and shoot but they made some stupid jr. high school decisions last night. unfortunately my gut feeling is the n.i.t. wont consider them either due to their schedule. |
Great game last night, by both teams. Its a shame IUPUI lost, I was really pulling for them. Hill is a great talent, and will be even better next year. The Jags deserve a bid into the N.I.T.(I'd like to see them in the NCAA tourney, but that won't happen.) Great game, and come back next year and win. GO HOOSIERS!

great effort
hill is a pro IU would be lucky to have a player with character and talent like him |

That's OK because IUPUI has no business playing in the NCAA Tournament (not that Oral Roberts does but that's beyond the point). IUPUI is, according to http://teamrankings.com/ncb/8powerratings.php... , IUPUI is ranked 76 in RPI and 233 in Strength of Schedule (SOS). So realistically they are somewhere between the 76th and 233rd best team in Division I. Mostly RPI is heavily a function of SOS. IF IUPUI played a tougher schedule they surely wouldn't be 76th in RPI since they lose to just about any decent team they play.
If they make the NIT they will lose as soon as they play any fairly decent team. Probably the team that got robbed from being in the NCAA Tournament because they gave an automatic bid to Oral Roberts - who doesn't belong either. |
IU had their chance and he turned them down when davis was the coach. |
Watch most of this game. I thought they played well enough to win, just ran out of gas. Great season, though. Good luck in the NIT!

Has the state of Indiana ever sent more then 5 schools to the NCAA tourney??????????
Bummer.....
"Maybe next year", Ron. |
There are now 10 D1 schools in Indiana: IU, Purdue, ND, BSU, ISU, IUPUI, IPFW, Evansville, Valpo, & Butler. 4 years ago, IUPUI and Valpo were in the same conference and IPFW wasn't a D1 school. Of those nine teams (two of which were in the same one-bid conference), 7 went to the tournament.(all but Valpo and E-ville) I believe that no other state has ever sent more than 7 teams to the NCAA Tourney. Not even California which has 20 D1 schools. Go Jags! |
They should get an NCAA bid? Based on what? Their record against teams with a winning record? Try 6-6. If they get a CBI/NIT bid they should be happy and that's not a given. |
My guess is yes, but I would have to research. |
