Full story: Newsday

You are absolutely RIGHT..the Knicks should TRADE the #8 pick because... they will FIND A WAY way to screw it up.

They will either draft 'a nobody' who is NOT NBA READY and needs ALOT of work... or pass up on MUCH better players who will still be available on Draft Day.

The last #8 pick they used on Channing Frye in 2005, then drafted David Lee #30 in the very same year and look at how that has worked out.(Lee was a much better bargain at the #30 slot, and one of their BEST players right now)

Even Danilo Galinari, the #6 pick last year already has serious back problems at a mere 20 years old. How long of an NBA career will he have with that type of injury?

Trade the pick. Let someone else draft Stephen Curry.

Because we ALL know they will pass on him to draft [insert name] from Europe... who nobody ever heard of... and is still 3 years away from being able to play a FULL season, much less start.

Just draft Stephen Curry and watch him drain threes at the Garden.

i dont understand why the knicks should not take curry?
even if he takes a year to "Develop", he'd be much better for when the '10 plan comes into affect. which is filled with mostly fowards.
Take curry, he will be an instant impact, not one who needs to learn how to shoot, much like other players in the draft.

With the Knicks without a 1st round pick in 2010, it may behoove them to trade this pick if they can get a #1 next year. While I don't doubt his offensive skills, I don't think Stephen Curry can be a point guard or will be ready for playing consistent NBA defense for at least 2 seasons...

we've been told by Walsh/D'anton that 3 years down the road Galanari will be considered the best player from the 2008 draft. what exactly have they done to deserve being here that that long ... I mean besides not being Isiah...

you are right.. In conference where defense wins and gets playoffs, they will build a 'feel good' team that looks good while losing... runs up and down the court score a lot of point and gives up even more... when the shots are falling they will look like world beaters.. when they don't they will lose by large margins,...

They should consider trading whoever they draft at 8 for whoever the Nets draft at 11.

Why Curry. I'm not interested in a guy that does nothing but heave up threes whenever he touches the ball.

Why would the Knicks want a player like Steve Nash who is clearly on the downside of his career? It sounds sexy to say that a trade would be the way to go, but if all you are getting back is Nash, Tyson Chandler (no offensive game) or Chris Bosh (could be had as a Free Agent after this year) then it makes more sense to stay put and draft a solid player who can contribute right away. I'm more interested in developing a Tyreke Evans or Stephen Curry rather than taking on someone else's old retread. Isn't that part of what got the Knicks in this predicament to begin with? www.throwingjunk.com

Another idiot, this time a journalist, advocating the quick fix approach to rebuilding this team. Isn't 13 years of the quick fix enough already? You win in the NBA by being patient with your young players, finding players who make other players better, and generally other teams don't want to trade those players, and getting lucky enough to find a superstar in the draft. Period. If we had employed that strategy instead of Isaiah (the mad scientist) Thomas' kneejerk reach for the next flawed former all star maybe we would have had an opportunity to draft wade, James, Paul Etc. Instead I have to watch Nate (the id) Robinson preen for the camera night after night. Thanks for your input Alan, but I think that unlike you Walsh actually knows how to build a basketball team.

Please do not trade a draft pick for Steve Nash! Talk about short-sighted.

The Knicks should take that #8 pick & sign & trade "D-Lee & Nate" to the "SUNS" for "Nash & Stoudimire"... See what happens & STILL be in the runnings for the free agents in 2010... Nash, Chandler, Harrinton, Gallinari, Stoudimire with Duhon, Hughes, Richardson & Jeffries coming off the bench... Sounds dame good to me!!!!

It remains to be seen what they'll do with the pick.
It's not like this year's draft is deep with players who will give immediate help, the majority of the players in this year's draft are players that need to develop. There are probaly 2 to 3 impact players that can offer immediate help.
If a team is in the rebuilding mode and patient to develop players for the future, fine.
Anything else is speculation until draft night.

Lets say we keep the 8th pick and use it on curry, we still need a center who can block some shots for us, what are our chances on getting a mid 1st round pick this year in a trade and drafting B.J. Mullens? He is the only other center projected to go in the first round this year. anyone can reply

Al,
I'm not intrested in trading for Tyson Chandler (injury problems)
Steve Nash is ancient & Chris Bosh would be a disaster on
the Knicks (Remember Charles Smith?)

I would only move the pick if i could package david Lee & nate Robinson or a combination of one plus the eight pick to move
up in the draft.

Jeff Teague would be my selection at # 8, or one of the other
guards if we can move-up.

This team lacks leadership & Toughness at both guard positions. They need backcourt people who are explosive & can do multiple things on the basketball court.

Unless you get the first or second pick there would be no reason to move up, and I dont think the knicks have enough to move up that far. The knicks are inept but what the hell is up with the clippers...why does that team even exist? They have NEVER been good, giving them a #1 is just a waste.

Steve Nash on the downside is still better than anyone at 8. And Alan did not say they should trade 8. He said they should EXPLORE it.

Trade the pick along with Jeffries to Minnesota for Sebastian Telfair and the 18th (or 28th). Little difference between the 8th and 18th (or 28th). Big dollar savings. Enough to sign CJ Watson a proven NBA scorer/shooter away from Golden State.
Watson's my starting 2 with Duhon at the one and Nate off the bench. Telfair in reserve. Fast, furious and intriguing.
