What a poor representative of the Big 10. I can hear the talk all season long. Coverage of the cheating coach instead of the great players that got them there. Sad day for Big 10 basketball. By the way, Butler has three of their starters back and are adding Matt Howard, a top 50 recruit in the country. The team also has 9 players with a GPA of over 3.25 studying subjects like pre-med and accounting, not general studies.
P.S. Any reason the big, bad Hoosiers with all of their illegally-recruited talent won't come to Hinkle to play?

Greenspan is trying to buy IU out of NCAA sanctions by imposing sanctions that are meaningless. Sampson didn't have the 500K so he isn't missing that. Sampson said he always keeps one open scholarship for walk ons. So he isn't losing a scholarship. The Assistant coach is paying more of a penalty in this case than anyone.
If this wasn't such a big deal then why the supposed big deal sanctions.
this is no more than Greenspan trying to worm his way out of firing Sampson when he said he would if there was even the hint of impropriety.
IU draws a line then moves the line.
He cheated again. Fire him.

It appears that the assistant coach initiated the calls so he is the party who should be punished , not coach Sampson. these NCAA rules are so complex and cumbersome that it is amazing that every Div.! school is not in violation to some degree and this is a minor infraction IMHO.
