The entire community should be proud that we have such a fine school and beautiful facilities in Orlando. Why all the negativity????? I am anti ucf after wasting a bunch of money there on credits that wouldn't transfer. That has nothing to do with reading the remarks of an idiot student claiming she and 549 like minded morons are going to continue their little hop fest regardless of the outcome of a study to determine if there is a structural flaw in the stadium my sports fees built. Actually my fees probably went to buying Don Jonas cheap cigars and paying off Lou Sabans contract...how many games did Lou win? UCF has been a poorly managed mess for over 30 years. I did enjoy a performance last month of the brass and woodwind ensemble and the little performance hall didn't sway a bit.

Again wrote: For those of you that like to sound off without READING the article, its not a safety issue. Again, this means the stadium is safe for patrons. UCF is just worried about ensuring the stadium lasts 50 years. I bet 95% of the people that post negative comments have never even been to the stadium. Get a life! <quoted text> Not a safety issue. I guess the Titanic going full speed ahead wasn't a safety issue either. After all the experts agreed it was unsinkable. Common sense tells you if you continue to stress a solid object (like steel) by swinging it back and forth it will finally give way and break. If you want to enjoy a football game then go to the game and cheer and enjoy. If you want a thrill ride then go to a theme park. Only a fool can't understand the damage you might be doing to the structure. But then again I have seen many fools attending UCF (as well as other universities). And that is why less than 15% of enroll students graduate. I just don't want to be in the stands when the stands decide to fail and fall down. If UCF doesn't fix the problem then many fans won't go to the games and if, or when the stadium stands fall then UCF officials should be held criminally liable for their part in this. It should be a safety problem or at least looked at as a safety issue.

First off, the solution will not be funded by taxpayers, Mike. The stadium receives no money from collected taxes.
This issue deals with the number of loadings that the steel can withstand. The structure is not aluminum, as suggested above. The seats and flooring may be, but the structural support beams are steel. Steel is able to withstand numerous amounts of loadings until failure. The stadium is without a doubt safe, but the longevity is the primary concern.
To the UCF haters, worry about your own school. And, if you happen to live/work in east orlando, you most likely wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for UCF pumping $500 million into the local economy. Check the recent studies that the economic support 40,000+ students brings to the area. Start supporting, or we'll fire you.

Mike wrote: It's taxpayers dollars. So break out the checkbook and reinforce the structure. That's all. I think instead of spending a million dollars to fix the stadium Dr Hitt and crew would rather spend a million dollars studying why if moving so much. And at the end of the study spend two million to repair the problem identified.

Im a big UCF Knights fan and although Ive never been in the stadium while it bounced, I've visited at least a half dozen times. Regardless of what officials are saying, "it's not a safety issue" to calm fears that may reduce ticket sales, I *will not* take my son or invite family to any big games. A stadium that moves because 45,000 teenagers think it's funny is a death trap waiting to happen. It's discouraging to think central Florida's brightest could be so wreckless! The bottom line is UCF needs to reinforce the structure to guarantee not a single death or injury occurs.

Just wondering because of all the mis-spelling you have here. If you think UCF fans are bad you should have gone to the Liberty Bowl and seen what jerks the Mississippi State fans were. Really made the UCF fans look good. It's only a matter of time before UCF and USF are competing with UF, Miami, and FSU as peers. Say what you like but it will be.

I did my undergrad at UCF and almost every aspect of that university is poorly handled, from academics to the athletic program..I understand that UCF is a 'young' university in comparison to where I'm at now for grad school, but they haven't handled their fast growth well. But that performance hall is for sure solid! lol

To those that love to bash any college (other than the one they support) shame on you. I would be willing to bet that most of the "fans" who support a major college program have never attended or applied to go to that school or university. Most of them couldn't even meet the requirements to attend. You see them all the time wearing the school colors, wishing they could be part of the program but knowing they never will. These are the people with the biggest, loudest voice. And at the end of the day they head back to their trailer of getto home to sleep and dream of what could have been.

Funny too how I keep reading how low he is projected to go in the draft yet so many proclaimed him to be the best running back in Florida college football history. UCF can put their best spin on it, but in the end it all adds up to one thing...Second-tier!!!

billy,
yes i am a UCF student and to assume I am because of silly computer spelling errors only makes my point even more.
People are so immature on these things and it disgusts me.
It's just a stadium and a paper wrote a story about it. Sad seeing random people from other schools come on here and bash us.
p.s. this spelling better for you billy?

It really bothers me how hateful and really just how STUPID some of the posters on here are.
UCF's stadium flexes for the same reason an airplane wing flexes. A completely rigid structure would have collapsed the second more then 1000 people were coming down the stairs, just like a completely rigid airplane wing would rip off within minutes after take-off.
The fact that MORE than one person on here is hoping for a stadium collapse and at least one person is wishing death upon students.... WTF is wrong with you people? Honestly, seek help.
UCF's stadium will be fine. The maintenance costs may be larger than initially anticipated if students continue to jump in unison, but UCF is ahead of expectations as far as revenue so there isn't really much to worry about. The stadium isn't going to come crashing down, people are not going to die, and UCF football is going to continue to improve because of the stadium and campus atmosphere.

Viewing a game from the new UCF stadium is amazing and being there in the flesh and hearing the crowd of 45,000 excited fans cheering for their team is over the top...being a part of something that pure is what college football is all about! Rock on Zombie Nation!!!!!!!!!!

Ridiculous

I dunno what's worse...that UCF has such a crappy piece of garbage for a stadium, or that it takes a mainstream song from the radio to get your fans excited. Why don't you try playing your actual fight song (if you even have one) and get the crowd up by that? I bet most of your students don't even know the words to your fight song...

It's not about "bashing" it's about reality, and apparently some of you don't deal with that. Get over yourselves and try to think a little more objectively. Enough with the jumping in the name of safety. Why is that so hard to understand?

People Are Stupid

My only question is why do all of you people care so much about UCF that you go around to every article written about us and bash us. It sounds to me that there are quite a few jealous people out there, what else would explain this constant obsession to put UCF down. Get a life and worry about the schools you gradua... oh wait, most of probably do not even have degrees. Please continue in your jealous orgy.
