I know Justin. He is an outstanding person and player. I believe the punishment is probably deserved. My problem is that it punishes the fans, the other players and his family when I see players at other Big 12 schools where this kind of incident would be brushed under the carpet.
You said something very important. He DOES indeed represent his school and has a special obligation to the other players and fans. What this means is that he IS held to a higher standard than students paying their own way through college and who are not "special" like this athelete. Since he is getting a "free ride" through school - football is a tough sport, sure, but it is still a "game" - he has a responsibility to tow the line and keep on the straight and narrow. Aside from the fact that he endangered lives while driving drunk, he was drinking under age. Hope Gundy follows through with appropriate sanctions beyond just missing a game or two. HE also has a responsibility to players and fans and taxpayers paying his salary.

Sounds like he was set up. Give him a break, after all he plays football and he did say he was sorry.

i know a person that while on the OSU campus got a public intox at a game...a year in prison...this kid should have to sit out the entire school year...books and sports and housing...fend for himself and work a day job and then see if he can make it back from there. 90mph drunk...in my town...i don't care who he is...he gets treated as badly as the rest. The law knows no exceptions. Right?
You don't know anyone who got a year in prison for public intoxication. You're just making things up.
