Bowl ban, 9 scholarship losses show NCAA fed up with OSU

Dec 20, 2011 Full story: Marion Star 43

When I was younger, single and didn't care about grocery bills, I couldn't have told you the cost... It wasn't enough to have the 2010 season vacated, a campaign which included a 12-1 record, yet another pounding of Michigan, a Big Ten conference co-championship and Sugar Bowl victory over SEC foe Arkansas.

Mr. Mark Emmertand his family will soon see the other seven dimensions that we don't see!

I am tired of the NCAA over-reaching, over abusing, over-punishing, and out of bounds ruling on a school that self-punished itself for the doings of people who kept their wrong doing to themselves.

That bowl ban is punishing student-athletes that have ZERO TO DO with the events of 2010!

The taking of 9 scholarships, again is punishing the alumni, the followers, the school, the students, in fact the whole buckeye nation for something that none of us were awared of!

"Failure to monitor" is a very wide concepts that can be brought up and fitted to anything the as*hole NCAA may consider a deviation! You can not give that kind of fuzziness to an abuser like the NCAA!

We need to separate ourselves from the NCAA! Either they shape up (be reasonable with their power) or reconstitute their laws to reflect intrinsic social and demographics changes and needs in the US!

I will personally will take action against the NCAA and its members!

The NCAA is a joke.

Cam Newton steals laptops, transfers to avoid trouble, his Dad tries to extort $180k from schools to get him to go there (and probably received it from Auburn), Reggie Bush gets a $750,000 house, U of Miami has ridiculous amounts of cash, prostitutes, etc. FSU has academic fraud, and countless other schools with CRIMINAL activity that drew NOTHING compared to this. For what? Exchanging memorabilia for tattoos? A total value of $14,000 for a year? How much more was brought in by OSU that the NCAA and others were all too happy to scoop up?

OSU lost the best coach they ever had.
OSU lost 5 of the best players they ever had.
OSU lost 6 games in 2011.
OSU self-imposed vacating wins loss of several scholarships and over $300K from their 2010 season.

And somehow that was not enough? So, the NCAA - in their infinite wisdom - is going to punish a coach, a school, and players that had NOTHING to do with the "violations".

Don't get me wrong, I agreed with the penalties that were self-imposed. I think the players and coach that broke the rules deserved to be punished. But, the NCAA ruling is (as usual) just ridiculous.

Just like our government, the NCAA's power has grown to the point where simple logic doesn't apply anymore.

WHEN IS THIS GOING TO END?

I'm sure the NCAA is shaking in their shoes reading the above post. NOT!!! Evidently some fired football coach who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, and had his football team put on probation. I guess he is venting his frustrations!

We have laws, and rules and regulations to keep us from having anarchy in this country. Same goes for college football. The NCAA, which is backed by ALL of the division-1 football conferences, have rules and regulations to keep low-life, dirty-rotten, no-good, scoundrel athletic departments from trying to get the upper hand, unfairly, on the play-by-the-rules schools.

So, the best thing for you to do, Va te faire foutre, is to contact your school and protest their transgressions. Do it soon ... ya hear, so, as to not continue to make yourself look like a complete idiot. Have a nice day!

Tressel will bounce back, it's just going to take time before someone hires him. Tressel took the fall for Smith and Gee, and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Careful what you wish for T-Town. Tressel and St Nick go back along way. And lets not forget Tressel considers himself a qb/oc guru who was once quoted as saying sometimes punting can be your best offensive weapon...UGH!!!...And you thought it was tough to score on LSU before???

The Big Ten, SEC, etc. are big money makers.
We are the 99%(college students) that protest the 1%(college athletes, money hungry administrations).
Spread the word!! Occupy all major college campuses!! Stop the greed that equals to Wall Street.
