After all of this mess with the football team and Tressel, it is great that the basketball team is doing so well. Of course, anything associated with football gets top billing, which is a shame. It puts attention on them, when the basketball team should be getting the top billing right now.

Seems to me that a basketball season is no less a war of physical AND mental attrition than with football. We have played 31 games so far so again it seems to me that some serious consideration and planning go into conserving the mind and body from this point forward. I have had no issue with the depth ( or lack thereof ) but now in this BT Tournament I would like to see the bench get some more playing time.

These guys need to keep the intensity through the Big Ten tournament. At first I thought it might be ok for them to lose in the championship, but the more I think about it the more I don't think so. They have been playing some of their best basketball lately and have found a rhythm and it would be terrible to take that away. After Purdue they have won their remaining 4 games by 19, 21, 21, and 28 in that order. Two of those teams were bubble teams looking for a big win. One of those teams is a top 10/15 team depending on the week. Keep up the intensity Buckeyes!

I don't care myself if they lose in the 1st round on Friday. But as the article rightly points out, that is very unlikely. Matta's teams play very hard in the B10 tourney and have had great success in it. Does it mean they will do well in the NCAAs? Not based on last year when they embarrassed their conference brethren but got ambushed in the Sweet 16. As you point out, Flabuck, they have routed 4 teams in a row. It would be an awful lot to expect for them to make it 7 in the B10, then maintain that streak all the way through the final four. I always pull for a win, but I really cannot see a problem if they were to fall to Minny or NW on Friday, then avoid any injuries and stretch their legs until limbering them on a 16th-seeded team next week.

I want them to win so I have something to watch this weekend! I'm going to miss basketball season when it's all over. This has been a special season.

Yeah who cares about the annual fundraiser. I would hate to see any of our players get injured this weekend. OSU, Purdue, and Wisc should be exempt from playing in the big ten tourney. Oh I'm glad there aren't 850 postings here for me to read. I don't think I can read another football article without seeing a million postings. I won't even attempt to read them either.

I can see your point, don't get me wrong. But a lot of your success in basketball relies on momentum. Right now they have it, and this team obviously can win a lot of games in a row. They wouldn't be 29-2 if they couldn't. And if not for ridiculous performances by Moore and Taylor, they very well could have been undefeated. Now, were those losses good for the team? Probably. They have come out with fire since the Purdue loss and slapped Wisconsin across the face. So I think this team has the right making to win out if they want to. You can tell by their attitudes and comments after games that they don't like losing. And they know this is the year to make a NC run. We will see how it plays out. You could be right, or I could be right. All I know is we both want to see this team win it all.

Hey Johnny,
I agree.
The best since 60/61. Although the Gary Bradds era was very good. I love this team's demeanor and unselfishness. I hope they can survive their "Off game(s) in the next couple of weeks. I don't think anyone is going to beat them when they are ON their game.

In Matta I trust, Final Four or bust!!!

It don't mean a thing, if you don't have a ring!!!

Go Bucks! The road to a national championship starts on Friday!!!

PS It's great to see a coach at The Ohio State University who does things the right way. I'm critical of Matta but he's the best at what he does, all things considered. Just win a national title to prove it to all, though, Coach M.

Man I wished we play tomorrow instead of Friday. Maybe we can play MI again and win at the last second like we did last year. That was fun.

Agreed. Who knows what is best. I definitely think the loss to Purdue gave them a bit of an attitude. Just maybe, all the negative publicity about Tressel will give them a focus. At any rate, if they make it to the championship game, they might as well win that one.

One of the sad things about all of this is that the basketball team has done a lot this season to earn attention they had been getting; that is up until "E-Mail Gate". Hope they can earn it back with a great tourney performance

Yeah, no matter what they have to play 40 minutes of basketball, might as well keep the winning streak alive.

Random Thoughts:
Why does it seem like anytime OSU is gearing for a big run in hoops, there is some distraction I'll have to listen to from the mainstream sports media not related to Buckeye b-ball. We kept hearing about O'Brien as well as MoClarett for some reason in 2007.
It's funny that when Matta magically got the top 3 guys in the nation to commit in 2006, with bad vibes in the program, I had to wonder what was up with Matta. Well, 5 years later and he keeps landing great talent, you'd think any problems would be fleshed out by now. I don't want to hold my breath, but Matta seems up and narrow.

Next, another avenue of exploitation seems to be this Big 10 Journey show. I admit it's been really neat to watch Craft, Diebs and Lighty in their "native" school and apt. settings. But isn't this another form of exploitation? College athletes are used as unreimbursed reality show stars by the "holier than thou" conference and college muckety-mucks, yet they get busted up the rear for selling t-shirts and autographs (for comparative peanuts). There are many angles to these issues, where some students used poor judgement for sure, but it just got me thinking....

Most importantly, I really really like these seniors as well as the junior star. Wishing Buckeye Hoopsters well and good health this weekend! Thanks for an awesome 3-4 years !! Go Diebs. Go Dallas. Go David. Go Bucks!!
