One last knockon old Glen Mason: he never really recruited for defense. He always neglected linebackers and converted too many players to offense. We are seeing the fruits of a true defensive recruitment scheme right now from what was stated in the article.

Realistically - the Gophers will probably take another 2 to 3 years before they start looking like a real competitive team in the Big 11. We will all have to be patient and let Coach Brewster and staff have 2 to 3 more good recruiting years to get a roster filled with the kind od athletes which will fit into his offensive and defensive schemes. Let's face it - a complete do-over takes TIME!

Yes, time is needed, but all indications are the Gopher FB program is on the right track. My biggest concern is the offensive line at this point.

Before you put "one last knock" on the former coach, you had better stop to think that he was the last Gopher football coach to win multiple Big Ten football games. In fact, he was the last Gopher football coach to win ANY Big Ten football games.

Don't kid yourself, brewster's 0-8 Big Ten record in 2007 was noticked and was noticed big-time. Just when the heck is brewster going to win a Big Ten game? The 2008 season opens in Columbus. brewster had BETTER beat Indiana back at the dome the next week because he heads into Champaign the week after that. Then, after a bye week, he heads to West Lafayette. brewster NEEDS to beat NU in the dome on November 1st. The next week Michigan comes into the dome. Then brewster takes his team to Madison. He has to beat iowa in the last game at the dome.

If brewster does this right this year, he can catch 3 easy Big Ten home games. If he gets zero...or one...or even only two Big Ten wins in 2008, he may coach another season...but...may there be mercy on his football coaching soul...in Minnesota, the verdict has usually been reached by year one or two.

Make no mistake about it...we are now on a three year plan...and...it is ALL about Big Ten football wins. IF the ad was solid...it might be different. Ike Armstrong managed to save Murray in 1959. However, maturi is no Ike Armstrong. In the Big Ten it is WIN...or else! Especially whn the "fire the coach..." mentality is as evident as it is in this time and place...

Yeah right, the pressure is not nearly that high on Brewster as you make it sound. If he doesn't win in year 3 then the pressure will be on. I'll burst your bubble right now and tell you there won't be any easy big10 wins this year. You think the talent on this team is much higher then any of those teams? It isn't, Mason couldn't recruit, and now the team is showing that. If Brewster strings together some more recruiting classes like last years then the team will win.

brewster can't coach, based upon the results of the 2007 season. He' better start showing some coaching ability, and fast. You seem to think big Ten losses all the time don't matter? Big Ten losses ALWAYS matter. Don't kid yourself.
brewster appears to be totally incompetent on Big Ten Game Day Saturdays. That is the ONLY thing that matters in the end. I've been watching Gopher Football since the 1950's. Big Ten wins vs. Big Ten losses are what it ALWAYS comes down to. Don't believe me? Just watch...
