oh Rod, you just blew away a bunch of the lovely lady bear fans .... but, considering u were probably just making jokes with some old reporter friends, it's forgivable.

REALLY, WE NEED TO LIGHTEN UP AS A SOCIETY ....

Larry English, it was a pleasure watching you in the Cardinal and Black these last few years.

Good luck in the future and here's to seeing you picked in the first round!

Go Huskies!!!

It figures that the reporters would get into their feelings about these things. Everyone likes to talk about the bad everyone does, so the minute a guy has a little bit of fun with you, you have to run to the editor and cry because your feelings were hurt. He is right, what a bunch of women.

Here's the thing, you know that someone had to have gone to Rod from the Bears organization because of the comment. That means that time and effort had to be taken over a comment that was not intended to say anything to women in general. This is absolutely ridiculous and petty in every way. Can we please stop the madness.

Those stupid reporters are lucky Rod didn't give them a little "chin music" to go with the verbal bee-atch slap.
I love it that he apologized to women for calling the reporters "ladies". Detroit media are the worst whiners in sports.

there is not one "lady" who was or would have been insulted by Rod's comments. this political correctness crap and the overzealous speech Nazis need to be curbed.

has our society become so wussified that an ex-marine football coaching lifer can't make a little, harmless crack?

This is just Stupid! The Media constantly trash talks coaches & players. But the minute one of those guys comment back,it becomes a huge deal & big news. You know Rod was more than likely egged on by them in some way. They dont talk about that. These idiots have even trash talked his Daughter for marrying his D-Coordinator. They were probably doing something similar or giving him Craaap about the 0-16 record last year. leave the guy alone,he just wants to move on. The Media can be absolutely brutal and Mean, but it is O.K when they do it. I dont see his comment at putting down women, whatsoever! Actually I thought Marinelli's comment to them was a great comeback and very funny! go Bears!

Have we become such a touchy feely society that I guy has to make a public apology for trying to be witty? Poor choice of words maybe but not enough to have to make an official statement. Give me a break!

I agree. Larry and his family have been members of the same church as my family, so I've known him (or known of him) for quite some time. He is class and character all the way, and any team that drafts him will get a guy that will play hard and represent their team well. Wouldn't mind it being the Bears, that's for sure!

Sometimes You Gotta Run Away
So You Can See Who Will Run After You,

Sometimes You Gotta Talk Quieter
Just To See Who's Listening,...

Sometimes You Gotta Step-Up in A Fight
Just To See Who's By Your Side,

Sometimes You Gotta Make A Wrong Decision
To See Who's There To Fix It,

Sometimes You Gotta Let Go Of The One You Love
Just To See If They Love You Enough To Come Back!!!

"R" where the heck are you????

i was wondering if the reporter that quizzed Marinelli on his opinion of his daughter's choice of a husband, had offered an apology. If not i would love the chance to tutor, said reporter, on how he should go about that.

Give the guy a break. This is football. Give me a woman that can play (really play, no kickers or punters) and then I'll say that it's unrespectful. This is not a gender thing. People would be better if we just accept and respect our differences. Contrary to the rest of sports women will probably never play professional or amateur football, that's just a fact. Being different is good. I love the way women dance.....that doesn't mean I want to dance like them. Likely, women love to see us men beat each other senseless, risking limbs, and even movement....... that doesn't mean they want to do it. At least the vast mayority of them.

As much as English would play for the Bears, his size makes him a prime choice for one of the 3-4 defenses in the NFL. I look for Green Bay to pick him up in the second round.

How Quaint, an actual pass rush. did Angelo think that one up on his own? Of course it doesn't matter, this kid will be long gone by the time the Bears get around to drafting him. an even if they could get him, they're way too cheap to pony up the money. No, they'll go out and look for a Quarterback so they can dump Orton (AGAIN), and probably end up with a Grossman Clone they can delude themselves with for another 3-4 years. Meanwhile the Vikes and Cheeseheads are laughing and snickering, the Lions? Well they're just licking their chops and watching.

No matter what is done or who is brought in to do it, fix the pass rush this off season...please!
As for the "ladies" comment, the reation from the reporters is common.
So many people can dish it out but can't take it, not just in the press but in everyday life.
