When you have a GOOD High School Coach this is what happens. I am happy for Aleric. Hope to see him play on Sunday one of these days.

His athleticism would've gotten him to the next level no matter who his coach was or wasn't. Anyone who had the pleasure of seeing him play knows that.

Too bad he didn't stay in state - he'd have gotten a lot more TV time (exposure) in the black and gold.

Caruthersville has had a lot of good athlete's. As a matter of fact we had 4 winners of the CARR trophy in a 5 year span. Where did those athlete's end up? You are saying Aleric is the best to come through Caruthersville? That his athletisism alone got him where he is today, he didn't need a GOOD High School Coach. These other players had that too. Some played for small schools others couldn't make the grades. Aleric had problems in school but his COACH made sure he passed his classes. Yeah I guess your right, he could have done this on his own. Even with a bad Coach......yeah right.

Thank God Aleric CHOOSE to submit himself to the Coach's sincere concern. My prayer is that the young man never forgets who helped him when he needed it most.I pray that the lesson learned is to help others in whatever area you are able. I'm sure Aleric had many persons to give him a hand up, look at his background even growing up God had many people in his life to encourage him beginning with his Mother and Grandmother. His life did not began in high school, get a grip!!

riverman, my cousin played for a major program and his coach had nothing to do with it. if you have the talent they will find you, and get you admitted to school unless it is just undoable, and even then sometimes they will slide u in the back door like jerell powe at ole miss. with a tutor for every class u take, at that point if u fail out it is just your own fault. and yeah caruthersville has had some good athletes but not many with the size needed to play at the division 1 level. there area a ton of great athletes at small schools that compete against other small schools, the competition isn't as good and the players are not even close sizewise as the large schools

Dognuts I'm sure back when cousin Billy Bob played for the Alabama State Tech Bulldogs back in 54 it was because he was 400 pounds and could block out the sun on a good day but in today's world of High School football it's the Coach who has his media people make up HIGH LIGHT films of his best players. It's the Coach that calls the schools and says hey take a look at this kid. It's the Coach who calls the teachers to make sure his players are attending class and passing. Jimmy Jackson and William Moore made it to Div. 1 Schools. Their personal effort played a large role in getting them where they are today but so did their HS and College Coach's.

actually Riverman my cousin went to camps in the summer. In case you didn't know this, there are scouts at high school games that may be there to see a few players but they look for the best players on the field. and as far as back in 54, try 2006. Some kids get there through an easier route because their coaches have good reputations and can get them looked at. But like I said, if you are good enough you will be found

Who might this be that made it to a Div. 1 school without the help of his coach. I know of no one in Caruthersville who has done this. Please do tell.

Like my sister stated Aleric is a great kid and do well REGARDLESS! Caruthersville isnt capable of positioning kids academically to enter division one schools. I have seen it over and over again! Some of the best athletes I have ever seen came from Caruthersville most never went to any college period. My family and I make a desicion to move Aleric to Raleigh, NC with me to finish his junior ans senior year so that he can could play for a great high school who would help us prepare Aleric academically ans East Wake High did just that and we are grateful!

When Aleric moved to North Carolina, who did he live with? My son who is good friends with Aleric said he lived with his High School Coach some. Is that true? One of these days Aleric will be playing on Sunday afternoons for some pro team. I just hope it's close enough to go see him play some.

"Caruthersville isnt capable of positioning kids academically to enter division one schools"...

That just simply is not true. Sometimes it is the kid who isn't capable. Jimmy Jackson had no problem with the clearinghouse, and will have his degree from Mizzou in a few months. There have been quite a few athletes from Caruthersville who could have played D1, but didn't have the grades. Don't blame it on the school. There are many, many CHS graduates who went on to graduate from D1 schools, but were not athletes.

Regardless, I am proud of Aleric and agree that he has a bright future ahead of him.

You all need to back the off of my lil cousin.Aleric has worked so hard to be where he's at.If anything the projects of Caruthersville prepared him this blessin in bein a great football player.behind our house apt 87 east haven
where alot of us played football with aleric. He couldn't have been no more than five years old playing pick up football with me and our freinds like jamal lil jimmy D-bo bryant rodgers patrick spate lance stewart chris springer and more.Aleric has had football fever were he would cry if he didnt get the ball and when he got hit. my my grandmother would yell at the whole neighborhood 4 tacklin aleric so hard.Peewee football came along where he turn in to a beast running the ball all over kids. So' please just lay off of him i wish he would have went to mizzo also, so i could have seen him play but he had to do what was best for him and his sister and brothers. god bless u Al and good luck in the future.
