Oh, yeah, she is showing lots of grit. The bottom line total on the budget jumped over a 3-day period. The final number she decided to use is the exact amount NC will get from the budget-busting federal stimulus package:$6.2 billion (or thereabouts). After whining and basically begging Uncle Sam for money to save our poor state and insulting SC Governor Mark Sanford who is opting to take a pass on the hand-out from Uncle Sam, I guess she has decided to settle on the deficit amount of $6.billion (the latest number after using different totals over the last 3 days). She learned from the best on how to manipulate numbers as she trained under former governor Mike Easley. Her vote was also the tie-breaker on the NC lottery which has been in basic terms: A DEBACLE.
Grit...sure.

Hell- tax the machines, make mopeds have a tag an ins., let the bcy, pay a little on road usage, what's wrong with some of that. People are going to gamble whether you or anyone else likes it or not, so get some tax money.
Put someone incharge of the lottery that will see it is used for what it was intended, someone told me that we might get 10% of the lottery money, i really don't know, but what ever it is it's not enough. This state waste more on crap than we can spend, stop the junk, let her look for herself, instead of being told by others, if she has grit lets see how much or is she going to be like the rest.

She is so serious that she is eliminating jobs that have never been filled. I am familiar with that tactic it has been used for many years by the State of NC. They create slots that they have no intention of ever filling, when they are in a tight economic situation they then " cut" those positions that were never intended for anything but propoganda purposes. Bev is as irresponsible and corrupt as her predecessor, just as was predicted.

Well as a Purdue fan all I gotta say is that even though Uconn will be a huge challenge for my Boilers to beat if they get to the sweet 16. As A Purdue fan, I would rather see the Boilers play UConn then UNC (No disrespect to UNC, their players or their fans by any means).

PS.
I still the Boilers could beat Duke the Poop in a re-match. But sadly I highly doubt that happens, because if Duke the Poop were to get to the final 4 this year, they would just get smashed by UNC and Greg Paulus would T-bag more then Richard Simmons at a Backstreet Boys concert for the gay pride parade.

Go Boilers, then when Butler and Illinois are gone, go Hells.

I work in the field of environmental education. I'm extremely disappointed in the Governor. For someone who claims to be pro-education and wants to make it possible for more to find jobs, why then is she cutting 1,000 jobs and proposing in her budget to cut, among other agencies, the Office of Environmental Education? It only employees six people who put heart and soul into making it possible to get free environmental education materials into the hands of teachers and students across the state. We are taking a giant step backward and it will take years that many aspects of the environment do NOT have, to reach the point we are now at in terms of understanding our environment.

Don't concern yourself with this bit of half truth and propoganda. The Sate of NC has played this game for many years. They create postions they have no intention of ever filling and never even budget funds for them. When times get a little tight they play the game of "cutting' positions. No one loses their job, they look like the good guys doing a tough thing and you get more of the same platitudes and crap. Bev is just Mike Easly's third term. If you liked Mike save your concern because nothing has changed. If Bev Perdue were standing next to me and said " nice day" I'd look up at the sky and check a thermometer to verify it.

If you looking for grit look no further than south of the border to Columbia, SC and its Governor Mark Sanford. Now that's a governor with balls. Perdue is proposing a budget i billion dollars greater than last years and she is crying crocodile tears saying she's 3 billion the hole. What a lie especially when she has to amke 3 billion in cuts. What a sham anbd the ACT should be ashamed of it's journalistic integrity to report such clap trap.
