In years gone by, option offenses were dull. It didn't matter how effective it was, watching smashmouth option football was like watching walruses fight (e.g. Oklahoma).

Nowadays, option offenses are so rare that they have become interesting again. And in the hands of teams with smaller players, the option is a great equalizer against larger and more talented teams. The A-11 would have been too, but cowards had it banned because undertalented teams were winning against teams used to going undefeated.

The option makes players of "big" teams whine and show how infantile they are, losing to teams that win by work and discipline (e.g. the Misery Tigers' loss to Air Force in a bowl game). It's hilarious to hear players bitching about their "pro career is in danger" because of the LEGAL blocking used by option offenses.

If they didn't want to get hit, they shouldn't be playing football.
