I don't understand. The kid is a stud wrestler, I watched him at state last year. What is he doing taking tobacco??? I guarentee if he has taken a health class in high school, which is required to graduate, he knows how bad tobacco is for the body. Why would he do this and hurt his atheletic ability so much?

Does Lucas Roth put his heart and soul into his sports? Is he a serious student, learning all he can while in school? Then why is it necessary for the school to micro manage his personal life? Kudos to him for standing up to the Lockport chapter of the "New World Order". If America is to survive as a free country, we need a lot more Lucas and Michael Roths and a lot less obsessive control fanatics.
Jim, he's not an adult. He is subject to school rules, which, i may add, he has broken on two previous occasions, concerning his tobacco use.

If you want to throw the book at anyone, throw it at his father who, rather than encourage his son to dispense with his foul habit, is SUING the district to enforce his right to flout school rules.

Even if he wouldnt of got caught smoking it doesnt matter. If you want to be the best wrestler in the state or nation you dont need to be smoking. Champions make sacrifices.

Clinton lied under oath and remained president. Many politicians lie and are voted in by the same people that want to dismiss a kid with enormous potential just because he was with cigarette in hand OFF campus. It seems that exceptions can be made and justified for any reason. Telling a lie to congress or blowing a smoke after school, what harm is done? Ask yourself that question. Mr. Roth was right. Is the school more concerned about the student and his future or their own school policy that pulls the rug out from under someone who strayed off course. Before all of you hypocrits chew me out for my opinion, ask yourself this; How many of you have gotten behind the wheel of a car after a golf outing, wedding, graduation, etc. and were legally drunk? Did you stray off the course a little or are you the exception to the rule? I'd like to know how many teachers and administrators find the time to smoke a cigarette on campus? What example are they setting? Let him wrestle. He has learned a lesson.

I got caught with a beer 1986. Football player, first offense, no other marks on my record, senior year. I was kicked off the team, I didn't question it. I wasn't a huge star, but I was an asset to the team. My parents backed the sports suspension and of course they had some of their own consequences to lay on me. I've never really thought twice about it, as soon as I knew I was caught I knew I wasn't going to play football.

Bill Clinton should not have been allowed to remain President after that Lewinsky ordeal, I know he is just a person, just like Lucas Roth, but as President, and as a star athlete representing the school, they both should be required to live by an higher standard and be made accountable.

On another hand, I've seen athletes, leaders, and parents, and school officials "getting away with" drinking and driving, partying, lying, whatever, but everyone should know if you play you could pay.

I've always hated the "do as I say not as I do" mentality that some leaders, parents, even coaches have it. So hats off to the role models that do live by that "higher standard" leading the way by example.

I agree you are right on the money, they are missing the main point...rules apply to everyone!

Lucas Roth is messed up in the head. He just got arrested in Lockport.
What a loser! What is his father gonna do now...?

On 4/24/08 at approximately 1:18 AM, Lockport Police officers were dispatched to the area of the 16500 block of Windsor Lane in the Victoria Crossing Subdivision in reference to a resident reporting that he had witnessed 3 teens attempting to access various parked vehicles. Due to the description provided by this resident of both the suspects and their fleeing vehicle, and the quick response of officers, these subjects were apprehended near Parker Ridge Subdivision. Upon further investigation, the three subjects who were later identified as David Mutz, 19, Lucas Roth, 18, and Nicholas Golob 17, were arrested and charged with burglary to motor vehicle, and attempted burglary to motor vehicle of another automobile. Property from the first vehicle was recovered and identified by the rightful owner. There are however several electronic items that were also recovered. The investigations division requests that any area resident missing such items contact Detective Bill Sheehan at Lockport Police Dept. to describe, properly identify and claim any stolen property.
