'Bodyguard' Hickerson pushes way into Hall
“Gene could run with any running back, they didn't have to slow down for him to set up his block. He could also pass block, but when he got out there on the corner or down the field, it was like one of those smart bombs. That defensive back was toast.”
CLEVELAND -- Long before entourages became fashionable, Jim Brown had his own personal bodyguard: Gene Hickerson protected the Hall of Fame running back from harm. via Courier News Online

I remember Hickerson pulling out and blocking for Jim Brown. As great as Brown was, and I still think the greatest RB of all time, he wouldn't have gained nearly as much yardage if Hickerson wasn't there flattening opposing linemen, linebackers and DB's. Dick Schafrath was another great o-lineman for the Browns whose time for the HofF is past due.
