No, it's not just blacks finding something to complain about. It's about dignity and respect. I think Ole Miss did the right thing. Some traditions do need to be broken. And to put this out there (in case someone wants to stereotype my opinion)...I'm Christian, white, from the south, and Republican and proud of it! And one last point, the changes that have been done at Ole Miss will probably encourage more students from all sorts of backgrounds to come...in return bringing more money to the University. It is a very wise decision!

I'm Jewish. I am Southern and people here could not be nicer. Blacks are the real bigots as are Administrators in public schools and colleges. I attended a 67 % black university up North in the 90s. I know who the real black bigots are...ESPN

He does not speak for all Auburn fans by the way.

So what. Lucky for us we don't live under a King and the schools vote on this issue luckily doesn't impact any other institution unless they choose to follow it.

If some protest gets the Redskins name changed...it only impacts the Redskins.

Tradition? It started in 1979. I have socks older that said "tradition".

Sounds like they lost to a democratic vote. So be it.

Congratulations to U of Miss! They finally placed Colonel Reb, an uninspiring symbol of an inglorious chapter of their State's history, where he belonged all along... into his final, well-groomed resting place. Neither Alabama nor Auburn have out-of-date symbols like Colonel Reb, but they could do something to put to rest this lingering preoccupaion with that same inglorious chapter; either move the White House of the Confederacy to Richmond VA where it might actually something historically, OR, to repeal the 1901 State Constitution and replace it with something far better. Go Rebs. Thanks.

OK, let me see here.... A few years ago Ol'Miss threatened to sue Butler High School about their mascot. Seems like the Col. doesnít really mean that much to Mississippi, so can BHS go back to their mascot that's represented the school for at least 50 years. I remember the Butler Rebels from the late 50's... Or is it more PC to forget your past and heritage. If, thatís so, well, tell all the whiners who complain about heritage and history to shut the _____ up. Don't be disingenuous; you canít have it both ways.
