Don't judge Jerry Kill by his first recruiting class. Give the University of Minnesota's new football coach a chance to make a big splash with his next one.

When taking your talents to South Beach don't forget to mention you were born and raise in Minnesota.

The kid is too smart to waste his talents on a losing team(Gophers) with a five year rebuilding plan..........sadly again.

Goph's were 3-9. You might want to get that stat correct when writing an article.

That picture's awesome. Did they find the skinniest scrawniest spotter ever to make Pirsig look that much bigger?:)

All the good kids in this class are thanks to Brewster and his staff for keeping them committed. So I will not judge Kill on it. Jerry Kill will never have a #17 ranked recruiting class ever, we will go back to Mason days of being ranked in the 50's to 60's at best.

What idiot wouldn't take the so called 50 or 60 rated class and finish in top 25 and go to bowl games over top 17 recruiting classes and win 2 games a year? Are you really that stupid?

Kill is going to finish in the top 25? When? Coaching Division 3 is a heck of a lot different then the Big Ten. Southern Illinois and Northern Illinois are basically D3 programs. It is a terrible hire. Who is Kill going to be able to out recruit? Zook? OSU? Paterno? Bo Pelini?

team finished 3-9 with their final two wins coming at illinois and at home against the iowee hogeyes. not 2-10. apparently fact checking is not the strong suit of the st. paul pioneer press staffers. sheesh.

do the RIGHT thing and play for your home state gophers, jonah. go gophers! ski-u-mah!

2 - 10, 3 - 9; Whats the difference? It only matters to a statistics nut.

Why does the reason he is 6'9" matter in the headline. This isn't Basketball where height matters.

You du-b a-s, Northern Illinois finished ranked 26th in the AP poll this year, with a MAC team and MAC recruits. Who are you, the big baffoon's kid?

Why would a kid with talent throw it away by being a goofer?

This kid would be a better fit at Wisconsin. They have produced great left tackles over past few years with a couple Outland winners plus they focus on running the ball compared to Kill's spread offense. As Olson mentioned it would be fun to see an all MN line at the U. Best of luck in the recruiting process Pirsig.

This article is a bit disappointing given the interview that Coach Kill gave yesterday in the Red Star (Strib). He basically pointed out that the so called "recruiting experts" are nothing more than a business to sell a useless product called "recruit expertise". Like the coaches at Iowa and NU, Coach Kill understands that recruiting can not be based on so called "recruiting stars". These guys are the "low hanging fruit" that the big programs will pick off IF they want those guys. The ones that are fake stars that we might get IF we are as dumb as Coach Brewster was. Hugo Carpenter, Sam Marish, Regis Eller, etc.

What Coach Kill wants is all the guys who fly a bit under the radar but will get the job done, the Matt Spaeth, Eric Decker, Greg Eslinger players. The real players who will actually play well in a Big Ten game.

Will this particular young man play well? One would need to know a lot more about. Yes, he is huge. But, can he move his feet?? Does he have the grit to do the work? Is he a flake? Those are the questions that really matter.

Go Gophers!!

Man, I hope this young man enrolls at Minnesota. We need quality kids like him to stay home and help return the Gophers to national prominence once again. He can be a catalyst in this return to glory. Go, Gophers! Ski-U-Mah!
