It was a test for both teams. A good early test. No. 11 Hawaii was looking to rebound after last Sunday's disappointing loss to UCLA. Read more

nice close on the 5th set wahine's. on defense, kanani, aneli, and tara are digging machines. offensive sets were spread out nicely. would be nice to get jamie better looks to bring up that pct. keep up the momentum. go wahine's!

im very impressed with kanani! not for her offense or for her digging everything in her reach but because of her maturity, determination, confidence, unselfishness and smarts. she exhibits a hawaii player of old who loved the game and not the hype or the attention from the stands. all the wahine gain celebrity status to be among the elite... but very few achieve greatness. all that have, possessed the same attitude this young woman exudes. ALL of the veterans can learn from her because since her commitment to hawaii she has behaved as a woman in the sport that plays hawaii and shoji coached volleyball.

discipline and humbleness are learned but if after 3 years and you still dont get it... you were never a true rainbow wahine!

One of the best 5th set the Wahines have played. They were in position, had the plan and carried it out with speed and "speed" is what the Wahines had to improve on. Won't miss tonight's game for anything. Wyoming is going to be dazzled.

I'm glad Hawaii won this battle, but what is up with Jaime Houston? She's a Senior, an All American(?), but doesn't play like one. I have nothing against chewing gum, but during game time? When she makes a mistake, she's laughing or smiling about it. Where's the focus and killer's instinct? Does she want to win, or play just for the heck of it? Not to hype Kanani Herring, but Kanani is so focused and hammers the ball from the backrow. Plus she plays great defense. If a player is trying to fire up the team, please don't laugh in their faces. As for the setting, why aren't they going to the middles more? Obviously it would make it easier for the outside hitters. This years team has better ball handling, in Tara Hittle, Aneli Cubi-Otineru and Kanani Herring. Dani or Stephanie, please utilize the middles. I know it matters most towards the end of the season, but I hope the team will improve. Mahalo.

MAHALO for mentioning this gum chewing by Houston. Like they say, even your best friend won't tell you that you have bad breath. Good thing I am not your best friend! YES, she chews her gum like a cow chewing grass. Nauseating to watch, especially when she screws up! Hopefully someone who is reading this forum who is not a friend of hers, will tell her to STOP IT!

Aside from that, this year's team looks better than last year's team!

Kanani Herring and Aneli Cubi-Otineru were just awesome! They both should make the all-tournament team. Maybe Kanani Herring can even make the tournament MVP. Wouldn't that be unprecedented that a freshman could do that? Go for it, Kanani, you are doing great!!!
