What we need, is to see a replay of Sam's dad slobbering, crying and drooling all over himself while proclaiming what a "father figure and role model coach brewster has become to each and every one of these boys," like he did on TV the night of the AF game! Exorcise those demons that would afflict poor sam with the devil's tool known as booze, father bill!!!! hahahahahahahaha
Feel better?

He's NOT a minor, he's a LEGAL ADULT.
Legal in one sense, but not in the other. That's why he got a "minor" for underage drinking, Einstein.

Coach Brewster needs to send a message to Willie Van De Steeg. And have Willie come in and have a sit down with Sam.

Why in the world would the cops release someone at the scene who had a BA of .22? This flies in the face of common sense. This young man was drunk, plain and simple, and since he wasa minor, the officers should have taken him in to the pecinct and called his parents or someone on the football staff to take him home. Good grief, how many young people have injured or killed themselves (drowning in rivers anybody?) after being fallen down drunk? Maresh's actions were stupid and reprehensible, and so were the police officrs who cited him.
Well, he isn't a minor. He is over 18 years old. His parents were released of custodial rights when he became an adult. And by the way, if he blew a .22, he would have been dead. He blew a .022. They released him on his own custody.

Leave his parents out of this. I'm sure his dad wasn't the one pouring beer down his throat. I'm sure there not so proud but ia'm sure they still love him. I understand now why he didn't go to BYU which has a much better program than th goofers beer chugging team often mistaken for a football team. Coach Brewster, Kick him off the team. Make a stand and send a message to the rest of the team that if they want to misbehave they can go to IOWA.

Sam Maresh is going to be a kid like most kids who drink. But he needs to get his head on straight and figure out if he wants to play football or fund the court system. Those tickets cost about $300 each. And the judge doesn't like to see you again.

If anybody thinks the Gopher FB team will win more than 4-5 games this year-they should go over to Gopherhole.com with all the other nut jobs

Brewster should try giving Maresh a drug test. I'd be shocked if it doesn't turn up positive.
Then he should give Maresh the boot before he brings any more trouble down upon the football team...the kid is trouble.
Do coaches have the right to give players drug test at random ?? I doubt it.

Get assessments done on kids who are getting busted for drugs and alcohol. Obviously they have NO respect for this brewster's football program if they continue bringing the program into the negative spotlight.
You can see the lack of discipline and respect on the playing field. Penalties...players arguing with their position coaches and needing to be restrained by others on national tv.
What on earth is the athletic director doing about thsi? What on earth is the president of the University doing about the problems being caused by the lack of control and discipline this brewster character has over his players.
Seriously, they need to start doing some drug and alcohol abuse assessments within brewster's program I'm a Gopher football fan and season ticket holder and have been for a very long time. This is disgraceful. Does this brewster have NO respect for anything? Has he NO common sense? Get these kids some help when they start sticking out like a sore thumb because of alcohol/chemical abuse/legal problems. Somebody has GOT to take charge over at the U of M. I realize that prexy b and badger joel maturi are just biding their time waiting for their retirements...but come on! This is NOT good.

SAM MARESH: move on to the MIAC and good riddance.

Sam Maresh's defiant, deliberate decision to get stinking drunk April 9 after being cited for underage drinking March 28 should result in his dismissal from the Gophers football team and the revocation of his scholarship. Being a scholarship student-athlete at the U is a privilige, not a right, and Maresh's repeated violations of criminal statutes, team rules and the university's student code of conduct gives the U just cause to kick him off the team.

Coach Tim Brewster and his staff are not social workers or substance abuse treatment counselors, nor do their job descriptions require them to act as probation officers. The U must stop funding an educational and athletic experience that Maresh clearly doesn't value or appreciate.

Maresh has survived his recent medical issues and that's great, but that doesn't give him a free pass to break the law and he must accept the consequences of his misconduct.

There is non alcoholic beer but why would a B team linebacker on a D Team not want to be drunk off his butt just to make not think about how bad of a football player he is? Should have stayed with wrestling becasue the diet doesn't include malt liquor.

Daily Horoscope for June 18

Taurus

No matter what else you're supposed to be doing today, it's a good idea to devote a little time to making sure your finances are running smoothly. You might even want to pay some bills now, rather than wait a couple of days until they're due, simply so you can make sure that you don't forget them. There should be some good news about a pay rise or perk, too.
