Thanks for the insightful interview. What is apparent is we have the same story on a different day. The current U of MN administration is determined to be everything to everybody and the real world does not work that way. By continuing to fund obscure non-revenue producing sports the U. drains resources from revenue producing sports. Anyone who thinks beer money is going to solve this is misguided. The beer money will be directed to every special interest, isolated ivy tower concern within reach. Furthermore, being in a division I sports program or a club sport does not determine a good students ability to achieve academically.

Tax Payer is clueless wrote:
Tax dollars??? 40,000 seats, lets say $20/seat (just for fun) and 7 home games. I'll let u do the math.
So $800,000/game plus what,$20 million for TV. And that pays for a $400 million dollar stadium and
a coaching staff of what $5 million? So the stadium and coaches are paid off in only 40 years.
40 years? Athletics is a money pit and a subsidy to the pro sports leagues.

Get rid of this tax waste.

Jon Gruden should be a STRONG candidate for the U of M Head Football coach.

Why doesn't the U look for someone who really wants to be here like Coach Mike Markuson who is now coaching for Ole Miss. Yes, Ole Miss had a horrible year this year, but look at his stats and bio. He is someone who WANTS to be here, #1...KNOWS HOW TO RECRUIT, where it all begins, and is a true Minnesotan. Take a look. You can't go wrong here.
