It seems like Javon Walker is a deadweighter and is really standing in the way of younger guys. Once he, Ronald Curry, and Ashlie Lelie went down and out leaving Johnnie Lee Higgins and Chaz Schilens as the premire wide outs, our passing game improved greatly. They were getting open easier, but most importantly, they were catching the football. Higgins had problems catching passes and fielding returns as a rookie, but seems to be over that and greatly improved his game once he became the veteran WR of the team. Now, Curry and Lelie are gone and have been replaced with draft picks Darius Heyward-Bey and Louis Murphy giving us hopefully better depth at the WR position and yet there is still Arman Shields who was on IR all last year, Johnathan Holland who was on IR as a rookie and the practice squad until he was called upon after an injury, but has yet to catch a pass in the NFL, and Todd Watkins, who was a surprise in training camp last year, but not so much after the season started. Not to mention Javon Walker is still a Raider and most (if not all) fans think he should've been shown the door with Deangelo Hall or in the first round of offseason cuts.

cable has talked about DH-B and MURPHY together and that would take pressure off of z miller. murphy, is known to block as well.main targets, DH-B and MURPHY. higgins will still punt return and catch occasionally.(looks all to good) sorry but i still believe walker will be gone by seasons start, despite his contract. he could have would have and should have been "it" but too many things going on in his life!

I am not sure anyone thought the Raiders were going to take two WRs by Round 4, but I am glad they took Murphy. The current roster of WRs, two guys in the draft and more undrafted free agent WRs signed makes a very full house. It will be interesting to see what happens as the Raiders get closer to the beginning of the season.

The Raiders didn't expect Murphy to even be on board in round 4 and when he was Coach Cable said that there was no way they were passing on him. With Higgins and Schilens showing signs of life at the end of last year and the drafting of Murphy and DHB, I just don't see how Walker will still have a roster spot regardless of his contract. I still think he should've been gone a long time ago, but I guess it's gonna take more than 2 youngsters to make him look bad enough to go. RAIDERNATION 2009!!!!!!
