Living near and knowing many of the tribal members in Hollywood I can say that this is a breath of fresh air. Right on point with the fact that the younger members have no idea what it was like to struggle, they just know what it is like to receive dividends... not all have gone astray, but many have. I would love to see the tribe come together and make good what they have done and what they are going to do in the future.
My prayers with you, make a strong stand!

Don't bet against the black QB in college football. ask pete carol. it's not fair to the fsu fans for the noles to sit xavier lee on the bench behind a guy who he is better than. because he has a tim duncan mantality he gets screwed over and that is why Bobby will retire from fsu not liked very much. they will always love him. but you think chris rix thaught them enough drew is the same qb a screw up waiting tp happen. the O-line sucks why play drewhe can't help you he is a big ten qb not a winning qb
Which news story does this pertain to?

The article is great. Carlisle Indian School was once prominent in football during the days of Jim Thorpe. I am Apache from Arizona. Football and basketball are very popular on modern Indian Reservations in Arizona, Montana, South Dakota, and New Mexico. There are many state champion teams, but due to racism, they often do not get recruited. That is finally changing. It is great to read of a Seminole who has persevered. I once met Billy Mills, the 10K Olympic Gold Medalist. As for the racist, Matt, he reminds me of Show Low, AZ. The town has a lot of bigotry. But I have found that such racism is rare in Florida. Which explains why most people on this board are not racist like Matt. I have basketball friends from south Florida, and they are not racist at all. I have not had alcohol in seventeen years and run mountains in Colorado, Arizona, or New Mexico as my hobby. I don't understand why Matt would want to be racist when I have Apache relatives who served in WWII to defend the US Constitution. One of them served with the 5th Marine Division (USMC) at Iwo Jima in 1945 - Semper Fidelis.
Nice post Apache Engineer. I'm glad there are coaches like Coach Schnellenberger to give opportunities to young men like Jarrid Smith. This has made a difference in his life and no doubt Jarrid has plans to pay it forward. I know from reading interviews and comments from the players on the FAU football team that Schnellenberger has been a very positive influence on all of them. Jarrid probably has been a positive influence on Schnellenberger.

Good luck Jarrid.

Great Story, but did I miss something...Why didn't Jarrid Smith Go to FSU? Wouldn't he have had a better chance of getting a few years of the NFL experience as a Seminole Tribal citizen playing for the Seminoles?
