WKU added to Wildcats' football schedule

There are 13 comments on the www.kentucky.com story from Mar 22, 2008, titled WKU added to Wildcats' football schedule. In it, www.kentucky.com reports that:

The University of Kentucky completed its 2008 football schedule with the addition of Western Kentucky, the school announced Tuesday. It is interesting how some Bowling Green folks think you are a traitor to WKU if you are a UK fan. Around Bowling Green, if a staunch UK supporter dressed in UK Wildcat attire, enters a room, you may hear some teasing, laughing or bickering back and forth. The one dressed in blue is usually the brunt of the teasing, as if he or she is a traitor to the Bowling Green community. If you have an opinion on which team you support, and why, please leave your comments.

I support UK!! All the way CATS!! I bleed BLUE! WKU is okay, but they don't have the history that UK has. Historically UK packs stadiums wherever they go. Once a UK fan, always a UK fan.

UK is afraid of WKU. They won't even play them in basketball since WKU beat them the last time they played.

Kentucky hasnt played them and UL tried to buy out a game 3 seasons ago. Im not so sure they are scared but it is not good to lose to a team like WKU

The last two times WKU played KY and UL they won both on the road. Since the Sunbelt is always (until this year anyway) a one bid conference, it was killing the Kats and Card's RPI to take a chance on losing to the Toppers in their "super bowl game" every year. They would hype that one game over every other. I think it might be better for them to make it the route they did. They look great and I love it that it is almost all local kids, while the Kats and Cards have only a few.

I dont understand not recruiting Ky kids. Pitino hardly ever did at Uk and dosent do much at Ul. we are letting too many get away. I hope BCG does a better job of it

If you would take your blue glasses off for a minute or two you would see that Rick does recruit instate.
But during the last few years there has been a shortage of high profile kids in kentucky.
Rick mainly focuses up north because thats where alot of the street baller types he likes originates. But whenever a dual threat or a sharpshooter comes avaiable here in kentucky you can bet your azz he has his eyes on him.

But why would he use a scholarship on Lofton when he already had Garcia an Dean, his concern when lofton was available was inside presence.

We do have Knowles who I wouldn't trade for any of them now, and Farley, Steiden, and Miller are walk ons from the state, but you are right we don't get the best always. The kid BCG signed looked great in the state tourney. The kid from southern IN that Pitino has coming in looks good too, but Lee, Lofton, and a host of others have openly said they couldn't get Louisville or KY to look at them.
