Blake Hoffarber only got 5 shot opportunities? Looks like it was more ballhogging by Westbrook and a lack of creative ball handling by Nolan. I guess the good news is that the Gophers lost to the 7th rank team on the road by only 7 points! They certainly can play with Michigan State! Of course, if the Gophers could have use of all their weapons, the outcome would be a different story!

No show: Hoffarber One Assist: Nolan (has not figured out his role) Other No Shows: Carter, Iverson Disappointing: Mr. One-on-one 70's player - Westbrook

I think this is another game that show this program is headed the right way. The kids are starting to execute their half court sets better & are playing hard. The donít have the talent yet to beat this type of team o the road, but I found this game encouraging.

Only agree with you on one point: Hoffarber, no show. He has to learn to create his own shot and move better without the ball, period. Otherwise, anyone with a h.s. knowledge of one on one defense will shut him down.

One thing I will say is that the entire team (including Hoffarber) did a great job at rebounding. Unfortunately, when your opponent has 21 FT attempts (made 13) and you only have 7 (made 5), you are gonna have tough time winning the game.

BTW: 13 - 5 = 8 (that's your game right there).

So what else is new??. Gophers always lose to MSU. Here's an idea. How about running a set play to free up Hoffarber just one instead of this stupid offense that accomplishes nothing but Nolen driving in the lane and throowing the ball away or throwing up a wild shot??. This is the same team as last year-mediocre. This is Tubby's third year and the Gophers are no better than a .500 Big Ten team.

For a change, the newspaper reporter actually watched the game and you didn't. Michigan State clearly dedicated a defender to cover Hoffarber that opened up some nice inside play to Johnson and Sampson. Westbrook got hot for a couple minutes and took some good shots. I didn't see any Ball Hogging in this game. It was clearly a team effort that came up a little short. A couple of late game mistakes by Westbrook or the outcome may have been different.
I give the Gophers a B+ for the strong showing on the road in the Big Ten. Still too many mistakes for an A which would have resulted in a "W" for the team. This team could turn some heads late in the season.

After reading the others, I am wondering if any of you "so called" fans even watched the game. This team is significantly better than last year. Purdue and Michigan St. are top echelon teams. We lost to both away from the barn. While the gophers were never in the Purdue game in the 2nd half, they certianly had a chance to win tonight with 2 minutes to go but made some key turnovers down the stretch.

All these people talking about set plays for Hoffarber and how he was non-existent are clueless. Don't you think the Gophers are trying to get Blake the ball???? The run him off some screens, but ladies and gents, Hoffarber is shooting 50% from 3's so he is going to be a marked man. It did open up the inside very nicely tonight and thought Sampson III did a decent job inside tonight. Why are there people complaining about a tough, hard fought battle at #8 ranked Mich St???? Good Lord, relax a bit you know how hard it is to win at that place?? I thought the Gophers played really well and battled defensively and I am really looking forward to the rematch next week at the Barn.

But they still can't beat MSU. This is his third year-no better than last year. They will be hard pressed to win 9-10 BT games. Big deal. they got to the NCAA once under Monson who was terrible. We still are not a contender.Tubby needs to junk this offense. This is what brought him down at KY.He should be contending for the BT title by now-the truth is, he hasnt done much for the last 10 years.People accept losing here way too easily.

Tubby is 0-6 against MSU-when do we finally beat them? Never with this pathetic offense.

"Real fans" are those who only say positive things about our Gophers. They never bring up the fact that the Gophers run the most putrid half court offense in memory. This exactly what happened to Tubby at KY. Is there a pattern here?? I have a better idea for you, go over to Gopherhole.com and cheer on your Gophers-this is a comment board, not a fan club. Gosh, you are part of the problem-no wonder the Gophers never win anything with "fans " like you.

Yeah, and the moon is made out of green cheese. The Gophers are strictly middle of the pack material. Tubby has been here for 3 years. Not even close to contending yet-- they never will if he keeps running this offense which is what brought him down at KY

Our half court offense will look significantly better when Colton develops some touch around the basket that allows him to make a layup!

there is no such thing as a good loss. the gophers played better than i expected and i actually thought that Ralph kept them in the game his best game this season. Hoffarber, phew. Talk about a turtle getting a piggy back from a sloth. buddy move, faster. Westbrook always does that same thing, as soon as he's settling into the flow and helping his team his tiny brain gets in the way and he thinks he should "take over" and boy does he. as soon as you see him back up and isolate give the other team two points. It was an entertaining game as far as a 60-53 game goes but i like defense, born and bread big ten.

dedicated a defender to Hoffarber is called man to man defense idiot ..... anyone with basketball knowledge would defend him that way as he can't create his own shot .... every team in every game would be wise to man up the Gopher squad .... they only have a couple guys who can create their own shot and their post players have NO offensive skills to worry about
