I just wish that before I die, Buckeye supporters and writers would focus SOLELY on the fact of why Miami lost the NC to our Buckeyes. It had NOTHING to do with Miami's bad luck in overtime and everything to do with our bad luck - a blown/missed call with 2'25'' left in the fourth quarter on a third down pass to Gamble. If the REF calls either of the two defensive penalties against Gamble on that play - we have a first down and the GAME ENDS IN REGULATION WITH US WINNING!

And more to the story the dominance of the Miami off line by OSU's front seven really took a toll on the canes, their all american center Brett Romberg stating "we could'nt handle them."

I'm with you guys on that. I'm tired of all that whining I hear down here also. Talk about being spoiled. Been in on some of the Blow Winds web sites such as the Miami Herald newspaper. All they are doing is crying. And they call us cry babies. Some plan on invading us this week. Don't know if they will or not but I really do look forward to it.
Am I incorrect in remembering a notorious bad spot on us that could have ended the game also.

Terry Porter puulease, what about that qb you guys had that played that game. I'm a browns fan and third team for that guy was a gift. all that speed from your skill players and not enough protection for your third string quarterback.

One of the many recollections I have from personally being at the 2003 National Championship game is the atmosphere of an OSU home game...it was deafening at times. For those of you who were not there, listen to the Marching Band's National Championship CD...you WILL hear us fans who were fortunate to be there...singing the Fight Song...and roaring during Script Ohio!

I also remember the paltry number of Miami fans present at that game...and the arrogance of the few I personally met...who were expecting a throttling of the Bucks just like Miami had pasted Nebraska the year before. In fact, as you may remember, a Miami Back-To-Back Championship Party had already been scheduled, invitations and public announcements already distributed before the game had begun.

Those are memories; this Saturday, for better or worse, is years later and we have two very different teams on the field. I am hopeful the Bucks will respect the opponent coming to Columbus...they are dangerous. I am hopeful Buckeye fans will respect the Miami fans who will make the trip...far more than the Miami fans respected us at Sun Devil Stadium years ago.

Other than that...KICK THEIR DAMN CANE ASSES!

Knew you guys were coming aboard so will say welcome to you. As I said before, been reading your stuff. Do we get upset with the trash talk... Not really, not as much as the Blow Winds fans.
We do have fun tho.
Remember I'm one of those who reads your guys trash talk and I think its hilarious.
Liked the one fan who said, "We should have played them down here".
He must remember the Wisconsin Bowl game or that we seat 106,000 and not 50,000. SO WELCOME TO THE "SHOE" BIG BOY.

Miami is starting to turn around the machine. The Bucks need to score early to make them think they are the team of a couple of years ago instead of the team of the 90's.

Like Brandon Phillips said of the Cardinals, that is my opinion of Miami. They are a bunch of cry babies and don't see that the game shouldn't have ended up in OT. It wouldn't have if not for the blown calls in regulation. If Miami would have won that game, OSU fans could say it was tainted because of the blown calls in regulation. Miami are a bunch of babies and are in for a surprise this Saturday. I personally can't wait!

Well I lived in Miami and was treated horribly being a buckeye. They are a good team this year, but they are outmatched, outcoached and we are playing in the shoe.34 to 17 and I will be there. OH..

Thats right keep blaming terry for your d not being able to stop Krenzel running all
over the field and for your offense not being able to score inside the 10 in the second overtime. Are you really a canes fan or are you like the rest of miami fans and only come out of the woodwork when miami is good. I bet on the ladder. And sorry no you be careful not only on Saturday but next year when Buckeye Nation brings 30,000 or more down to florida to kick you butt at dolphin stadium.

Referee Magazine called the penalty it one of the best sports calls in history based on VERIFIABLE EVIDENCE. There are a million videos on the internet that show the holding. The mistake was that the ref who was responsible for the call hesitated before Porter stepped in.

All Miami fans can really complain about is that they let “pass interference” be the official call. If you have the DVD of the game listen to Keith Jackson say that “now they are signaling holding” over Dan Fouts shouting “Bad Call … Bad Call … Bad Call” at pass interference.

Nice story .... The Miami Hurricanes probably should have never fired Larry Coker . The Football talent in Miami ,Fl is 2nd to none and the Hurricanes do have a chance ..a good chance of beating the Buckeyes in Ohio Stadium on Sept 11th . It 's going to be a game where the team with the fewest mistakes and turnovers wins . The ' U ' is coming back but the Buckeyes are at their peak under Coach Tressel and this will be a tell tale sign for both Teams on how far they have come . Go Bucks

Nicely written article. I have long forgotten about losing the title in 2002. That is behind us and most (intelligent) Canes fans have moved forward and are excited for the next couple seasons.

I hope next Saturday that the Canes are competitive. I dont expect a win, but hope for a good showing. I dont think we are at that level this year. 11-2 this year and next year we fight for the title.

Go Canes!

I couldn't agree more and have been pushing this objectively credible viewpoint since the game ended. Look closely and I think you'll also see that Gamble ACTUALLY CAUGHT THAT PASS IN BOUNDS for the 1st down!
One additional note; as I sat in the endzone with yet another 4th down to overcome in that magical 2002 season, I thought "this is it, I don't think we can convert one more 4th down, I'm not getting my hopes up....." and with that came the realization that NO ONE IN THE NATIONAL MEDIA would have even conceded that tOSU would have taken Miami to OVERTIME, let alone even been in the game in the third quarter. Even if the Bucks LOST that game, they accomplished a "miracle" by coming that close. So much for the 40-point spread most of the talking heads predicted!

If the OSU D can go 5 minutes and avoid the cheap shots against our backs (see Willis McGahee), then this should be an interesting game. We'll see what's what come Saturday.

Too bad ASU doesn't host the title game anymore. It is now in the new cardinals stadium in Glendale. If osu gets to the bcs title game in a few months, I would l wish they could play in tempe again.
