"Sight", "Sight" not "Site". And this brought to you by the Association Press. Geez.

I can understand why the players wonder about the fans if they are either no-shows or just show up to heckle the other team instead of cheering their own. U of M fans want an elite team but the fans actions are middle of the road. You can't have it both ways.
This afternoon I attended a Lady Tigers vs Christian Brothers Lady Bucs exhibition game. The Lady Tigers won handily, as is to be expected since they are a D1 team and Christian Brothers is a D2 team. Not to mention that each Memphis player probably out-sizes each Lady Buc by a half a foot and 30 pounds. Why would a set of Memphis fans come to that game and constantly heckle the other team - in a derogatory and obnoxiously disrespectful way - instead of cheering the Memphis team? What kind of fanbase does U of M have? Maybe that very mentality reaches further than just a few disrespectful hecklers. Maybe that very mentality keeps the U of M teams from being any better than the middle-of-the-road that they've always been.

I find it funny that UT fans would travel from the other end of the state to see the VOLs play but UofM fans cannot travel across town to watch the Tigers play.

they need to disband this program , they are a total embarrasment to the city , the football team is a joke and the basketball team has been a third rate junior high program for decades , the baord of regents needs to step in and put this program out of its misery !

Because Memphis likes WINNERS, not LOSERS..Case and Point.. This is a Basketball City...When the Grizzles were going to the Play-off, the Forum stayed pack..When they start losing most of their games, I believe the Forum has not had a sell-out since. That was said to say, Memphis know The MSU Football Team needs some help, badly and they are not a winning team this year, so they are not going to waste their money and time.{My Opinion}

Most of the players on the Tigers team are from Memphis, have they never attended a Tiger game vs UT or other SEC opponents? UT ALWAYS has more fans and if UT wasn't having such a bad year, it would have sold out with a sea of orange wrapping all the way around the stadium.
The U of M has students who are fans of UT, Bama, Lsu and wear these schools hats & shirts at the U of M. They only support the Tigers in basketball.
I originally thought Porter put together a good staff. I don't know what the answer is for Tiger football. There really hasn't been any stability in the program and even when Tommy West took the Tigers to bowl games, money wasn't invested in the program to capatilize on its success. It may be a case of too little, too late, and the end of Tiger football in the next 4-5 years unless there is some significant change.
Tommy West said it, and Bobby Bowden said the same thing, in order to have a successful program, the Administration must support the program. And U of M DOES NOT. Sometimes I wonder how R.C. Johnson finds his way to work!! Either support the program or drop it!! And they want seat license!! What a joke. It is not Porter's fault and it was not the fault of Tommy West!!! They are doing, and did, the best with what they had. Come on people, wake up and smell the Roses. South Panola could come up here and kick the Tigers Tail.

I am sick of MY TAX DOLLARS being spent on sports! If ticket sales can't support a stadium then SHUT IT DOWN!

Memphis needs to play in division 2 in football and then try very hard to get the basketball program into a top conference.
