Here's a much more interesting number than Joe Paterno's salary-- the number of write-in votes against Lehigh County DA Jim Martin on November 6: 3,000.

people will probably be disappointed to find that most of Joe's salary is most likely through the old folks in the Nittanty Lion Club not from tax dollars. the only thing likely to be reported is the tax dollar figure

Who cares! It is time for him to GO anyway! The motive for him staying as coach is to keep having his longtime assistants give up on ever getting the coaching job. He wants his son (Fredo) I mean Jay to get the job. Penn State can't fire Joe because he is their ticket to getting donations for fund raisers. Any other college a coach would have been fired for his performance over the last 10 yrs.

Get a life people.

If you had ANY idea about what he does to help students off the field and off the record. You would't open you DUM uninformed mouths.

If its no big deal why would the university try so hard to keep it secret?

I would bet that Paterno's salary is so low compared to his peers that PSU is embarrassed to publish it. He sends so much money back to the university anyway that it is likely his final takehome pay is less than $1M.

And anyone who thinks that Paterno is making any big decisions or running the show is mistaken. He is just a figurehead at this point.

PSU will provide base salary without perks and incentives.

The real story is probably what the others make....they'd better release the benefits and perks of the others also.
