I do love sports, but I have to say that sports fans are a bunch of thoughtless, small-minded, low-class barbarians. Why would someone feel entitled to boo anyone? If it was you, or your son, how would you feel? You think athletes don't have feelings? It's a game, for pete's sake! Go out there, have fun (maybe think about cutting back a bit on the alcohol), and cheer for our kids. If you've got to be negative, stuff it.
People were booing the coaching staff's decision to start Steffy. They weren't booing Steffy himself, just the situation. I would suggest tha you refrain from accusing the fans of being low-class barbarians when it's clear that you have absolutely no idea what's going on.

Furthermore, people wouldn't boo if it wasn't blatantly obvious that Turner is a better QB. The differences between the 2 are night and day.

I was wrong Friedgen's love affair with Steffy is worse then Billick/Grbac.Terp's fans have every right to boo and criticize the "fridge's" decisions.

Ummm...the QB doesn't get tackled in practice. He has a yellow jersey on.
Maybe that's why Steffy is the greatest practice QB of all time but turns into a human trainwreck in the pocket.

steveg- let's hope everyone is booing the coach and decisions. In these hard economic times, we are still supporting the program with our hard earned money...and Ralph gets $2M. He's easily one of the most overpaid coaches in america and decisions like this and the non-sensical rants and explanations are insults to those who carry his water financially. there are rumblings in the pricey seats...he better be concerned about losing the fan base. many folks are sick of his poor management.

Steffy must bring Ralph alot of DONUTS to keep hanging on to his QB job. Turner should be the starter without a doubt! I see a long season for the Terps, even in a very weak ACC.

Memo to Steve G, do you follow sports at all? What gives YOU the right to call fans who support their team by buying tickets and showing up low class because they do not agree with subpar QB play? You are low class and possibly a snobby jerk to make such a statement. You must be a wine and cheese women's water polo fan.

As a supporter for more than two decades and a season ticket holder who shells out money every year to see a quality product on the field, I will say this...

BOO!

Jordan Steffy has shown exactly ZERO in his time at Maryland and frankly it's time to cut the cord and move on to greener pastures.

Ralph can defend Steffy all he wants, but he cannot point to a single instance in five seasons where the kid has ever lead the team.

It's part coaching and part Steffy's inablility to be a consistent QB.

With two very talented and fast receivers in the line-up, I say get a QB that can air the ball out. I seem to remember Turner doing that several times last season.

Steffy's entire career is going to be remembered by the 100 YD INT return he threw to Wake last season.

Hardly worth defending, Ralph.

I wonder if Flacco was still there if the Blue Hens would've blew out the Terps as good as Flacco was in college.
What if the Terps still had Shaun Hill in there and Bruce Perry? How bout Esiason or O'Donnell? What kind of thought process is that anyway? No disrepect to Navy, who I like and admire, but Flacco's biggest game was againt the Middies in a shootout on both sides. Not exactly bone rattling...from a guy who couldn't master Matt Cavanaugh's offense and beat out Tyler Palko at the University of Pittsburgh. The quarterback Delaware has now is more highly touted coming from Ohio State, than Flacco was coming down from Pittsburgh. Plus, Flacco doesn't play defense, and Scott still would have had some 197 yards. The more pressing issue with Maryland is the kicking game, which missed three makeable attempts. This is not a good sign. I am not sure Steffy is the problem in there. They didn't do too much with him in the offense, and I think bringing in Josh Portis disrupted the pace for Steffy more than anything. Plus, Portis forgot which play he was suppossed to run. I like Chris Turner and Jordan Steffy...I'd like to see either one succeed..Winning football is what I would like to see.

Final Score this coming Saturday:

Middle Tennessee State -- 37
Maryland -- 17

Maryland will finish the season with a 4-8 record (good for last place in the ACC - even behind Duke)

I am glad that Maryland is no longer recruiting Tavon Austin

Jelani Jenkins will not be attending Maryland - he will sign with the University of Florida.

Ralph says "Steffy is the epitome of what we want in this football program." Really, I thought you would want to be better than mediocre and finish a little higher than the bottom 1/3 of the ACC year in year out. He also says "Jordan will come in and win the game for us before the season's over. I promise you that," Wow, I hope its a home game can't wait to see that in person. I'm really tired of this. Turner should be the starter, pure drop back passer with weapons all over the place.
Ralph the booing is for you and has been for about 4 to 5 seasons now. Will you please recruit a Blue chip QB that can play 2 or 3 years?? PLEASE!!!
