Incredibly, I agree with most of this article.

However, talent shows will have their arc and fall out of favor, just as they did 40 years ago.

Given that winning American Idol doesn't seem like such a great prize for someone with real artistic talent, the bloom may be off the rose already. The commercialization is too obvious and unrelenting marketing too much of a manipulation.

Survivor WAS NOT the first reality show on network television.(the real world was on mtv for years before any of this)

But the first reality show on a major network was Making the Band, on ABC. And american idol is oddly similar to it...
